Butterfly Pea Blooming

Rene is estatic!

We have been trying to plant butterfly pea ever since we moved to our daughter's place. We tried so many times but failed due to mealybug infestation that destroyed most of our plants and vegetables; and this time, finally, when we found some seeds lying around in a cool and dry place when rene harvested some pods before 2019 we have it one more try.

Every morning Rene prayed on the plant when it started to sprout some blades. This has been her "quiet time ritual" where she loves to talk to God about the plants HE blessed her with.

It was months where the plant kept growing but there were no blossoms, until last week when we were cleaning up our rooms and the things we brought back from our old house in the village, we found a bag of flowering fertilizer that was kept nicely aside since 2019; and to our delight, the fertilizer is still working like a charm!

Now every morning we look forward to try to see if we can spot any more new flower buds, but because Rene's left eye is now 95% vision loss, using one eye to spot tiny little blossoms are very hard. We asked our daughter to take pictures for us when she's home with zoom in feature so that Rene can enjoy looking at it; and we are so delighted to spot many more tiny ones, like these 2 popping up.

Soon we will be able to harvest the flower and make flower tea.

When there is still signs of life, there is still hope

Wish you well, my friends

Ever since my front porch's renovation. The extension has closed up all from the sun and most of my plants are dying from lack of sun. 🙁

Everything has to moved to the back. We never dare to plant this because we have no time to take care of it. Good to see the balcony plants are blooming. 👍
