I’d Love to Close My Eyes and Watch Things Happen

Hello, Hivers and friends! Hope your weekend is going perfectly well. Today, I'm here to answer one of the weekend's engagement [questions](https://peakd.com/hive-168869/@galenkp/weekend-engagement-topics-week-197) by @galenkp “Do you prefer to plan aspects of your life or let it happen and go with the flow?”.

Honestly, I’d love to close my eyes and watch things happen, and that should be the most peaceful state a human can attain I guess. To look forward to tomorrow without worries, and hope for things without actually planning for it. But it's so unfortunate, that I'm not like that. I wasn't born that way. I grew to realize that without properly planning my life, I may not reach the destination I envisioned for myself.

Do you know there are people who forget to have dinner even when they are hungry? And also
forget the lectures they have unless they check the timetable?
It's shameful to say that I am somehow like that. I easily get distracted, forget things, and find it hard to focus, unless, of course, I plan to get it done.

I do plan my life to the extent of making a to-do list. A to-do list may appear old-fashioned to you, but not to me. I still do it most of the time especially when I want to achieve that which is in my mind. I may not be strict with it but I'll make sure I achieve them all, and within the designated time, so I'll say a to-do list serves as my mission list and as a peaceful reminder.
I grew up to learn that no one can change my life except me, I alone have the keys to my destiny. I'm the one to decide who and where I
want to be in the future. I am also used to this quote that says the way you lay your bed is the way you lie on it. This explains the benefits we may have from planning our life.

Planning some aspects of our lives involves making decisions for ourselves.
Making a good decision sometimes can be difficult, because as humans, we are only permitted to know the present, we can never be sure of tomorrow even with gypsy predictions. So we are allowed to make mistakes (especially those that are born from our own decisions), accept these mistakes, and learn from them. This is part of growth as a living individual.

However, there are certain things we can't change, even with good planning. It's better to let things like that be and accept them as they come. Things like death, contacting a disease, and some social factors. These can never be part of a person's plan, but they are there, they are inevitable.

Sometimes even the things we can control can slip out of our hands. I guess this is where I may be tempted to go with the flow, especially if I have put in all my effort to the extent that I become helpless and unable to salvage the situation. In cases like this, I let things happen.

I do feel like if I don't plan my life, I may have some regrets afterward. Because parts of me will be like “You should have done something. But you refused and preferred to sit down and watch”. But if I plan and put in efforts to make my plans work, even if I fail, I would be consoled with the fact that I tried my best.

That will be all for today. Thanks so much for your time, until we read again.
