Activities that must be in the Songkran tradition
Most people or tourists usually only know about the fun of splashing water, accompanied by music to cheer the heart, excitement with the splashing water activity and warm smiles with new friendships that nothing can block, regardless of nationality, skin color, children or adults, when Songkran Day comes, there will only be good friendships.
But there is one thing hidden in the Songkran tradition, which is the sandpile building activity, according to the beliefs passed down from ancestors. When we come to do various activities in the past year, we will step on the ground and sand in the temple. Therefore, during Songkran, we must return the sand to the temple by forming various shapes and decorating with flowers according to each idea and thought.
Everyone helps to form shapes, with the pagoda shape being the most popular because it represents the temple very well. Some temples will organize a competition, and the team that does the most beautiful work will receive a small prize to take home.
This is an interesting tradition. It's good to see families working together to build their pagoda. Thank you for sharing fascinating traditions and festivals with us. Do enjoy your weekend.
