My student gave me an extraordinary gift on Valentine's Day. Perhaps she had given it personally to me.

Walking down memory lane, I sat at my table when she approached me with a gift.

I was touched and surprised by her kind gesture. It was a customized pink heart with words of love and a cute white bear surrounded by specially designed pink roses. She knows very well that I love pink, and it made my day.

When I went home, I placed it near a window, and I noticed a wonderful shadow of the gift she had given me. Indeed the shadow it cast was so beautiful.

And that this shadow reflects a precious memory in teaching and my student's impact on me. It may be a simple gift, but the thought always amounts to something as I felt valued and appreciated for making a difference in her life.
