A SIMPLE DRESS MADE WITH LOVE

Happy New Month wonderful people of this great Community

I am thrilled to share with you all the beautiful gown I created for my mom. She has a passion for singing, and I believe I inherited my voice and dance moves from her; she is part of the women's choristers in our church, known as "Mama's Choir." Recently, there was a one-week convention program for all women, and they were chosen to perform a song at the annual women's convention. The leaders chose Ankara fabric as their uniform and selected a specific design.

My mom brought the Ankara fabric home, and I began working on the dress. She played a significant role throughout the process, helping with the placement of stones and offering creative ideas. I often wondered why she didn't pursue tailoring but instead went for hairdressing.

Let's dive into the process:

I folded the fabric into 4, using her largest measurements with some extra fabric since it's an A-line dress. Then, I proceeded to mark the shoulder, armhole, and neckline before cutting it out.

I also cut out the facing for the back and front of the dress. For the front, I used a plain material called dullface. Additionally, I cut out the sleeves and bands.

I pinned down the front facing to sew it easily and then took it to the sewing machine to stitch it in place.

After sewing the facing for both the back and front, I went ahead to attach the band to the sleeve. I also attached the sleeves to the body of the dress.

Next, I sewed the sides together, and the dress was ready. I then embellished it with stones, although I couldn't finish stoning it before the big day due to lack of light. Nonetheless, I managed to stone most parts, leaving a little touch-up work to do.

she loved her dress! and rocked it so well. I plan on rocking the dress too though 😁

I love my mum but I hate when she gives me clothes to make, she will stay with me and start directing me from the beginning to the end. I will be so angry. I'd rather gift her an outfit than make an outfit that she is aware of😂

This cloth looks simple and elegant😍. I'm sure she is obsessed. Well done 👏🏾

😄😄😄🤣 I can relate, I get nagged by my parents while sewing sometimes, especially by my dad. He always says he learned tailoring back then, but I haven't seen any proof😄.

Thank you so much ♥️♥️
