HOW I MADE A BOTTON DOWN SHIRT AND SHORT FOR MY BOYS

Hello Everyone in the Needlework Community.

I hope this week brings great joy to us all. I will be sharing with you all how I made simple clothes for my nephews. There's always a story behind every piece of clothing. My mom had been reminding me lately to sew clothes for my nephew, but I hadn't made boy's clothes in forever. I have a brother learning how to sew male clothes, so I told my mom to ask him instead.

One morning while cooking, my mom came to me and told me that she had spoken to a tailor on my street. She said she was going to take the clothes to her to sew since we were being lazy. It didn't sit well with me, so I told her to bring the material that I would make their clothes. I wasn't happy that she was going to spend money when I was around, I told her to relax she could pay to sew when I finally traveled but not when I was around. Then I began the cutting process.

Here are the steps

I folded my materials into 2 and then cut out the front and back separately with the back piece 1.5 inches higher than the front and an extra 2 inches to the front for the button overlap. Then I marked out the neck, and armhole, measurements and went ahead to cut it out.

After cutting the bodice, I cut out the facing for the back bodice and also the sleeve. I ironed the interfacing on the button overlap to make it firm.

I took it to my sewing machine and stitched the button overlap. I also sewed the back interfacing to the back piece. Next, I joined the shoulders.

I attached the sleeve and measured the round neck of my dress to draft the collar, I went ahead to cut it out, attaching interfacing to it. I
stitched it up using my sewing machine and then sewed it onto the shirt. Then I stitched the buttonhole using my sewing machine and voila the shirt is ready.

For the shorts.

I folded the fabric into two and then marked out the length, hip, and crotch length plus an extra 2 inches for the elastic casing. I cut out the front and back pieces separately.

I joined the flaps of the front and also the back. After joining the flaps, I stitched the side seam allowance of the front and back together

I stitched up the crotch sides and also folded the waist to insert the elastic. Afterwards, I stitched the bottom of the short.

They rocked their outfit to church yesterday. They were so happy and the eldest told me to sew more beautiful clothes for them. I was glad to put a smile on their faces.

These outfits turned out very well, I congratulate you, I imagine your mother was upset because you had not sewn the outfits for the children, I hope you have much more mood to continue making beautiful clothes for them 😊, happy sewing Monday 🥰

She speaks to me in an angry tone whenever she talks about sewing for them😄😄. My initial plan was to make beautiful clothes for them though I am not into making male clothes, procrastination got the best of me.

Thank you so much for your support and a happy sewing Monday to you too.

Please don't be, Its the simplest especially if you can undergo like 3- 6months training since you are very skilled in female clothing. You will be a PRO in it.

Thank you so much ♥️♥️
