Today was my first Long Covid Therapy Session

Hello my fellow Hiveans - it's been a few days since I've posted, and this is the reason why...

(Really?? I never would have guessed...)
I'm sure that this isn't news to many of you, however it is good that the NHS have set up these rehab groups to help the many of us who have ended up with Long Covid.

After Ben and I tested positive at the end of March last year, we hoped that we would only have the dreaded lurgy as a mild case, and it would be of short duration. Alas, that was not to be.

By August, I was still struggling badly with getting back in front of the camera to present the car reviews that Ben makes look so easy, and especially after having long bouts with no voice, I had to take a step back.

(Wake me when it's warm, okay?)

This did not sit well with me at all...even though I was so tired I could hardly think straight. I am very lucky due to the fact that I have a great GP - okay, this makes it really hard to get an appointment with her, but when I do, things get better! She confirmed it was now Long Covid, and referred me to the rehab team.

It's bonkers to think that it's taken over four months to get to this point, but there's a lot of strain on the NHS right now, so you won't hear me complaining. (Honestly, I would not be alive if it weren't for the NHS - for that, I am forever grateful)

So today we started on an action plan to try and kick this. Two rehab team members came all the way over to my house, avoiding the need for me to trudge to the hospital (and with the ice and snow here, it would have been a trudge indeed)

"To trudge...the slow, weary, depressing yet determined walk of a man who has nothing left in life except the impulse to simply soldier on" Gotta love Paul Bettany. 😍

So - at length - they came. Many topics were covered, and the beginnings of an action plan were implemented:

It is going to take a while to get back into the swing of the three P's (as I learnt of this during my time at The Walton Centre) and it's interesting that they are starting me off with a technique used at the Neurological Specialist Treatment Centre. It makes sense, I suppose, as pacing is one of the most common sense approaches to getting things back on track.

My main focus is to enjoy our car reviews, and the time we take to do them should be fun (otherwise, what's the point?) So if I need to readjust how much time it may take to do them, well...it's not the end of the world.

Ben and I have also reduced the number of vehicles we are booking in, so that going forward we don't go round in circles.

Next up? Homework!

Look at what I've got to do! I will keep you posted on my progress...

Thank you all - if you've read this far, please let me know your journey with Covid, and how it's going. Maybe we can trade tips?

Hope you feel better soon! I know one of the important things is to make sure you’re supplementing with easy and basic things like vitamin D which will really help your immune system long term and kick things out. Zinc and magnesium are also really good and since they are pretty easy to get it’s not a bad idea to make sure you’re taking those 3 a day at a minimum.

I look forward to seeing another update with your progress!
