BREAKING NEWS: Win Trading in Splinterlands Solved!
Less than 2 weeks ago, the community was talking about a big issue that was coming up in Splinterlands: Win Trading! You can check out the details in the article here: BREAKING NEWS: Win Trading in Splinterlands.
Brief Summary of Win Trading
Win trading happens when two players have an agreement to throw the match in order to give the other an opportunity to maximize farming. This is similar to match fixing. In the early part of the season, this is more obvious that some diligent mavs (such as @beeyou, @azircon, and @channelmagnetic) went on a witch hunt and found evidence of certain players doing this. It may not be in the Terms of Service but the actions are considered highly unethical and against the spirit of the game. Actions were taken by the guild leaders such as @reseller and @clove71 to the offenders. Splinterlands official action as mentioned by @byzantinist was that @brybro27 and @kira1995 were investigating the events and compiling a list.
No news has reached me regarding the punishment for the offenders but I believe they were given a warning at most. I still encounter some of them in Diamond League so the more severe punishment such as bans didn't occur.
The Solution to Win Trading
A few hours ago, Splinterlands released this solution to win trading, along with an update to the ranked battle reward system. You can check it out here: Ranked Battle Reward System Updates
Aside from win trading, the automated scripts that get the additional information about opponents such as the available cards will hopefully no longer be used. This will remove some tactical advantage that other players have that those who only play through the game website don't.
This most recent change that will be implemented soon seems to solve the issue! This is definitely a step in the right direction, and should be helpful in elevating everyone's gameplay!
