Exposive Weaponry in high mana battle, max the speed and damage

Hello Splinters Lover, today I will make a post about Battle Mage Secrets Challenge This week's theme is Explosive Weaponry Ruleset :

I using my scholar account from Balthazar BLTZR-WIZARD-710, battle in Diamond League Modern Format, my deck only consists of Chaos Legion Card, Neutral Card, and some reward cards. The enemy is the same scholar as me in Balthazar so our names are almost the same.

Ruleset

From left to right :

  • Broken Arrows, a range attack monster can't be used in this battle.

  • Explosive Weaponry, all monsters have blast ability.

    • Blast ability, does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster.
  • Mana Cap 41.

  • Can use the element Earth, Life, and Dragon.

My Lineup and strategy

For the Explosive Weaponry ruleset we need speed so we can attack first, every hit has the possibility to deal great damage because can decrease the armor or HP of several monsters at once.

For this battle, we choose to use the Summoner Quick the Devious from Dragon Element which can decrease the enemy's speed by -1 and the second element is Life because has several monsters who can enhance the speed. All our monsters will attack the enemy in the first position (focus fire). This is our Line up :

Djinn Chwala, 1st position, Attacker and Tanker. Has the ability Thorns, Enrage, and True Strike,With High Armor and HP, this monster is good as a tanker. The ability Thorns will damage melee monsters who attack this monster by -2. The Enrage ability will boost the damage and speed of this monster if the HP decrease. This monster always hit the target because has the ability True strike. This monster is rather slow but has powerful ability and attack to decrease the enemy monster's HP and armor.
Carnage Titan 2nd position, attacker, and 2nd tanker. Has the ability Reach, Double Strike, and ArmorThis monster can attack from the 2nd position because has the ability reach. The ability of Double Strike make this monster a powerful attacker. Each round this monster can attack twice for a total damage of 8. For defense ability, this monster has Armor, which can decrease the enemy melee and range attack by half.
Time Mage, 3rd position, attacker. Has ability Slow, and RustBecause we can't use range monster we use Monster with Mage type attack to decrease all enemy monster speed by -1 (slow ability). The other ability Rust can decrease all enemy monster armor by -2. Put this monster in the 3rd position because I think this position is safe enough. This monster is Fragile with a small HP, but the ability is important in this battle.
Adelade Brightwing, 4th position, attacker, and support. Has the ability Fly, Repair, Resurrect, Immunity, and Swiftness.Right away choose this monster because has Swiftness ability which can increase all friendly monsters by +1. Another support ability this monster has is Repair (can restore the armor of the monster who gets the most damage by +2), and Resurrect (when a friendly Monster dies it is brought back to life with 1 Health). This ability can only trigger once per battle). For Self Defense, this monster has Fly ability (increases the chance to evade range and melee attack by 25%) and Immunity (immune to negative status effects). Put this in the 4th position because I think this position is safe enough from attack, this monster same as Time Mage, is easy to die so we must put it in place safe enough from enemy attack.
Djinn Renova, 5th position, attacker. Has Strengthen, and Triage abilityThis monster's HP is higher than Time Mage and Adelade Brightwing so we put it in here to be a tanker, in case the enemy brings a monster with the sneak ability (attack monster in the last position). We use this monster because high Magic damage and has Triage ability which can heal monsters not in the first position. The Strengthen ability will increase all our HP monsters by +1 making it harder to kill.
Soul Fiend, 6th position, tanker. Has Swiftness ability.We don't have mana left for this last position so we use a monster with zero mana cost, this monster is very good because can give +1 speed to all our monsters. In case the enemy brings a monster with a sneak ability will hit this monster first, so Djinn Renova in 5th position will receive the Blast effect only, not receive full damage, and increase Djinn Renova chance to live longer.

The Battle



  • Round 1:
    As usual, the battle started with buff and debuff from both sides.
    our Monster all attack first because our monster's speed is all higher than the enemy, but too bad we can't kill any enemy because the enemy monster has good HP. Our Soul Fiend die attacked by enemy monster Venari Scout but was resurrected by Adelade Brightwing, At the end of the round The enemy Grund attacked our Djinn Chawala and die together because the enemy Grund receive Thorns effect from Djinn Chawala.

  • Round 2-3:
    At around 2 our higher speed shows his power, immediately after the round start our monster attack kill 4 enemy monster (Mycelic Slipspawn, Venari Scout, Fungus Fiend, and Queen Mycelia) The enemy monster don't have a chance to fight back. With only enemy Carnage Titan left in this round 2 and we have higher speed, we can already predict the outcome of this battle.
    In round 3 our monster Djinn Renova with 4 magic damage attacked the Carnage Titan and kill it.

Did your strategy work?

The strategy of using monsters with high damage, focusing on attacking monsters in the first place, combined with high speed works well in the Explosive Weaponry ruleset. Because all of our monsters attack first causing heavy damage, and killing many enemy monsters before they have a chance to attack.

Is there a better strategy?


Yes, there is by using summoner Byzantine Kitty from Dragon element, who can give +2 speed, can heal monster in the first position, and has True Strike ability (when our monster attacks the enemy will always hit). The weakness of this monster is very expensive to rent and purchase prices at the max level. That's why we don't have it in our scholar account.
