Hello everybody, today I will make a post about Social Media Challenge this is an event held by Splinterlands every week. I will make a blog about the monster from the Soulbound reward card and how effective this monster in battle we will see.

I battle in Diamond League Modern Format, using my scholar account from Balthazar.

For the video :

Ruleset

From left to right :

  • Up, Close, and Personal, only melee monster can be use in this battle.
  • Rise of the Commons, only common and rare monster can be used in this battle.
  • Briar Patch, all monster has Thorns ability.
    • Thorns ability, everytime the melee monster attacking the enemy the HP / armor will decreased by 2 except if has shield bility will only got 1 damage.
  • Mana Cap 99.
  • Can use elemen Life, Death, and Dragon.

My Lineup and strategy

For this battle i instanly choose the Grandmaster Rathe, because it has amplify which can add +1 damage in Thorns, and has shield, when attacking enemy the first time at least can ignore the damage of Thorns if have shield.

This is the enemy lineup :

This is our lineup from left (first position) to right (last position) :

Summoner/monster and AbilitiesDescription
Grandmaster Rathe, Summoner. Has ability armor +1, Void Armor, and Amplify.Because this battle is melee only, I think the most useful ability this summoner has is Amplify, because can increase Thorn damage to all enemy monsters by 1. Armor +1 to all friendly monsters is useful to ignore the damage from Thorns or enemy monsters. The void armor ability is useless in this battle because can't use magic monsters.
Drybone Barbarian, attacker, and tanker. Has the ability Enrage, and Retaliate.Put this in the first position because of Enrage's ability and high HP. When this monster's HP decreases it will activate Enrage ability and increase the damage and speed of this monster. Retaliate ability is very useful in melee battles, when this monster is attacked it has a 50% chance to hit back.
Chaos Knight, 2nd position, attacker and 2nd tanker. Has the ability Shield, Giant Killer, and Inspire. This monster can't attack from this position, so must wait for the monster in the first position to die first. Shield ability will decrease the damage of the melee attack by half. Inspire, this ability is very useful in melee vs melee battles, and can increase the damage of all friendly monsters by 1.
Celestial Harpy, 3rd position, attacker. Has the ability Flying, Opportunity, and True Strike. This monster can attack from any position, with the Opportunity ability will attack the monster with the lowest HP. Flying ability will increase the chance to dodge melee and ranged attacks by 25%. When attacking another monster this monster can't miss because of True Strike Ability. This monster is weak when receiving attack and will die easily, so I put this monster in 3rd position to make sure it is safe enough from enemy attack. With the Briar Patch ruleset I don't think this monster will last long, with only 5 HP every time he attacks the enemy will decrease the HP by 2. I just hope that this monster can help kill the enemy monster before it dies.
Stitch Leech, 4th position, attacker. Has the ability Sneak, and Life Leech.Another monster who can attack from any position because have a sneak ability. This monster will attack the opponent in the last position. With Life Leech ability I hope this monster can last longer. Every time this monster attacks and decreases the enemy's HP, the HP will increase according to the damage dealt.
Disintegrator, 5th position. Has the ability Demoralize, Trample, Knock Out, and Retaliate. This monster is slow but has good support ability in this battle which is Demoralize. This will decrease all enemy melee attacks by 1. Same as Drybone Barbarian this monster has Retaliate ability. With Trample's ability when he attacks the monster and killed it, then it will try to attack again the monster behind. I put this monster here because I think this position is safe enough from the attack, I don't want this monster to die first because it has Demoralize ability. With this Briar Patch ruleset, I doubt that the enemy will bring many monsters with sneak ability because usually, a monster with sneak ability doesn't have great defense/HP, and easy to dies when damaged by Thorns.
Dumacke Orc, 6th position. Has the ability shield, and Retaliate. In case the enemy brings a monster with a sneak ability I put this monster behind. With shield ability, the melee damage will be reduced by half and can counterattack the monster that attacks it.

The Battle

Round 1:
As usual, the battle starts with buff and debuff from both sides.
In this battle, Drybone Barbarian Retaliate ability is activated several times, to bad miss when counter-attacking the Luminous Eagle.

We can see clearly Amplify ability from our Summoner working very well when the enemy Stitch Leech attacks our Dumacke Orc and give 3 damage instead of 2, and when Imperial Knight attacks our Barbarian it decreases the armor by 3.

Round 2 :
The Drybone Barbarian when died attacked by the enemy Luminous Eagle manages to activate Retaliate's ability and kill it. 2 against one Luminous Eagle and Imperial Knight against our Drybone Barbarian but our Barbarian manages to handle it and almost can kill both.

Round 3 :
In this round, the enemy Disintegrator die, and with the death of their Disintegrator, all our monster increase the attack by 1.

Round 4-8 :
Nothing much the enemy can do, our amplify keeps increasing the damage of the Thorns, although the enemy Chaos Knight has a shield that reduces Thorn's effect but still gives 2 damage to it. With the dead of our Chaos Knight, our attack decreased by 1 because no Inspire ability anymore, and the enemy summoner give a -1 decrease to the melee attack. With 3 of our monsters against 1 enemy monster Chaos Knight, the enemy can't do much and is dead together with our Disintegrator because of the Thorns effect.
With the dead of Chaos Knight, the victory becomes ours.

Did your strategy work?

The strategy is a success, every time the enemy attacked our monster it got high damage from the thorns effect, except the monster with shield ability.
and the shield from our summoner really helps to protect our monster from the Thorns effect and enemy attack.
The Drybone Barbarian Retaliate is working very well, the enemy brings Barbarian too but does not have the retaliate ability because the level is lower than our monster.
The Drybone Barbarian Enrage and Retaliate really Help to decrease HP/kill the enemy.
Our Drybone Barbarian is only at level 5 if it can reach level 10 for sure easier to win this battle.
