Siguieron caminando y pasaron a otra sala.

Invito a mis amigas @katleya y @maxjulisgf a participar.

VERSION EN INGLES

For many years, this house served as a place to store the artifacts found during archaeological excavations conducted in the Los Tacariguas Valley and the surrounding hills.

Behind these doors and within these walls, the remains of the indigenous cultures that inhabited this region many years ago were displayed in glass cases, protected from visitors.

But in its basements as well—off-limits to visitors—there was much more: mysteries not yet revealed to the public, which might not be able to understand them.

I visited it several times because I was drawn to those relics that were once used by the Arawaks and Caribs. Clay pots shaped like animals, gold necklaces adorned with stones for rituals, the incense pots where they buried their dead, and the elongated skulls. And there was something that always caught my attention whenever I saw it. The figure of a man inside a cockpit, as if simulating a space flight. Was this just my own interpretation, or a depiction of an encounter with other worlds in the past?

A flight of stairs led down to the basement, and to prevent any curious onlookers from daring to enter, there was a thick chain with a sign that read “No Trespassing.”

My nieces, who were visiting the city, decided to check out the museum in the afternoon. When they went in, there was no one else there; it was almost closing time. Shadows fell over parts of the main hall, slightly away from the artificial lighting.

A thin, pale skin man who appeared to be over sixty was the security guard on duty. He had sunken eyes beneath thick eyebrows. When he saw the young women enter, he began to follow them, helping them with any questions they had.

They walked through all the rooms, impressed by the artifacts from ancient cultures, pausing to look at the animal-shaped figures and the elongated skulls, which caught their attention. The atmosphere was one of a heavy silence, broken only by the sound of their footsteps on the polished floor.

When they reached the staircase leading to the basement, the guard asked them a question.

“Would you like to go down and see what’s kept down there?”

They were astonished because the sign read “No Trespassing.” But despite their distrust of the security guard, their curiosity about what was hidden in the basement of that building made them follow the man.

They slowly made their way down the steps, walking very close together, afraid. They didn’t know what they were going to find, and it was dark. The man with the sunken eyes led the way.

When they reached the bottom, the guard turned on the lights.

What they saw was a large number of objects piled haphazardly on boxes, in no particular order. There were many vessels of different shapes and sizes. They kept walking and entered another room. There, in the middle of the room, was a sarcophagus and some statues of indigenous people that bore no resemblance to the cultures of the region, but rather to those of distant lands. They also saw some items used during the War of Independence: some weapons and uniforms.

“And what do these strange objects have to do with this museum?” they asked the guard.

"They were brought here many years ago by some archaeologists from the museum, but they were never put on display in the public exhibition hall. They kept them here to protect them"

They began to feel a very strange sensation—an energy that, as they told me, seemed to be emanating from the sarcophagus in the center of the room.

“We want to leave now,” they told the guard.

The man watched them as they looked at him, now with fear.

“Then let’s go upstairs,” he said in a very calm voice.

When they stepped out into the exhibition hall, there was complete silence. The doors were closed. The security guard opened them, and the young women hurried out.

Outside, was waiting for them.

“Why did it take you so long? I got scared when I saw the doors closed. There was no one to ask,” their aunt told them.

"The security guard was showing us the objects in the basement."

"It looks like he’s leaning out the window."

But when everyone turned around, the window lit up, and the image of a person with an elongated head was visible for a few seconds—until a very pale hand closed the window.

Outside, my daughters and I were waiting for them

Over time, the Maracay Anthropological Museum building fell into disrepair, and its doors were closed to the public for a while. Today, it is open. But I wonder what happened to the objects in the basement? Could they still be there?

This story I’m sharing with you as part of the Initiative Photographs with Dark Stories , is partly fiction and partly reality. I wrote it based on my nieces’ experience during a visit they made to the museum. But it also reflects my own impressions from when I visited it. I don’t know if, in some way, these objects can store energy—including that of the people who created and used them. In other sites of ancient American cultures—seems to bear witness to encounters with beings from beyond the stars.

You’ve made a truly outstanding contribution to the community, because the story is gripping and the photographs are mysterious. That museum, I’m sure, holds secrets, especially in that basement. If your nieces sensed a strange, heavy energy, it may be down to spirits, particularly if they are trapped inside that sarcophagus. Objects always absorb the energy of those who made them or of their owners, and there is surely a valid reason why many of those objects have not been put on display for the general public to see.

As for the statuette, I have not the slightest doubt about what you say regarding visitors from the heavens, beings from other planets. In many depictions, for example in indigenous cultures and even among the Egyptians, they depicted beings arriving in spacecraft. This has been kept hidden from people, mainly to avoid questions and panic. Thank you very much for your contribution; I’ve really enjoyed it! A big hug!💗

Hola @avdesing
Gracias por tu comentario. Me agradó mucho leerlo.

Muchas gracias @rinconpoetico7.
