Succeeding in the attention economy. Yeah! just a matter of hoarding a helluva of eyeballs!!

avatar

Well, I gained a new mutter in the Hive blockchain. And I suspect it is gonna be harder for me to succeed in the "attention economy" if this continues to be a trend. Tsk Tsk.

But the truly strange and unexpected thing of this case, has been the fact that this new mutter apparently is also an Oldman like me who is a hiker who often likes to go outdoors in spiritual journeys through the past, present and future supposedly yearning to learn and share knowledge and experiences.

And to top it off with all this mutting weirdness. He is also a fellow new PoB-er which curiously, also keep a well nourished and interesting list of well known Hive "characters" of my greatest PoB appreciation in his personal Muted Users List.

So, I wonder from whom and with whom specifically is he yearning to learn and share knowledge and experiences as he claims, if he avoids to taste exotic fruits too.

But hey, let's put all of that behind for a moment. Since all of the above is not precisely the main framework of reference of what I really wanted to develop in this post. The Attention Economy. Trying to succeed in the attention economy right?

Ok, the point is that I had just stumbled upon an interesting and pretty revealing article from @taskmaster4450 where he describes to us and talks a little about this matter of hoarding eyeballs as one of the main mechanisms to achieve success in the attention economy. Among several other $48K per post entertaining details.

And as right after having read his article. (which by the way, I recommend that you also read it). It was then that I discovered that I had gained a new mutator in the Hive blockchain. That's why I couldn't avoid including this Hive user in this spiel.

And perhaps the only intention of having included him here. Has been all for a simple reason. That if attitudes like his begin to be emulated by others and start to be repeated very frequently. There is no way I can become any time soon into a Supah Stah across this so much mentioned Attention Economy. ¿Am I right?

I don't know. I really don't know why. But I certainly never muted anyone. Nor ever felt the need to mute or block to anyone. If I don't want to read anything someone has written, quite easily I won't. Absolutely no need to rely on automatisms or helping tools for that. So, I'm unable to wrap my mind in such sort of mindset.

Yeah, perhaps it's just me the one who thinks in this way. Because probably I am a too curious beast. And I find it very difficult to understand, how someone could find the truth, (any truth), and being fully aware of their surroundings and what is happening out there around them if they are not willing to dig deeper in both sides of the fence. Especially if they are longing new knowledge and new experiences.

As the saying goes: "Ignorance is bliss" And I have to admit that way too many people might feel themselves somewhow safer and comfortable enclosed inside their tiny bubble and hollow echo chamber.

May the Flying Spaghetti Monster protect and bless them.

Meanwhile and as fruits of awareness goes. Now let me see if I can succeed growing up this unique and quite exhuberant variety of plum trees. After all, in one way or another. I reckon we all somewhat are always trying to find a privileged place to stand out in this attention economy. };)

By the way. Yeah! that's right! I've been trying to publish this article since 48hrs ago. But unfortunately a serie of gorgeous and consecutive majestic long power outages, over here in my neck of the woods, have prevented me of being able to do so on time. So yeah! sip it up!!

Hahaha yeah, ¡I'm guilty! ¡Wadda embarrassment!

My list is not only small. But from the bottom of my heart and from the tip of my head, I was almost willing to swear that I had never muted anyone ever.

We share a common interest in old men it seems, I mean, we enjoy the content of a particular old man. Yes, that's correct (his content is always a joy to read).

I'm the same when it comes to muting users. My eyes are capable of jumping past to another post, there are enough of them. It reminds me of the changes Whaleshares made which ended up segregating users into bubbles and brought a form of internal censorship to their platform.

Yep! it's indeed very easy to do. Hence, my uneasiness to see others relying on automated blinding tools.

Rules are always made to be broken. Never forget that. };)
