WE84: ¡Music for The Weekend! ¿Huh?

⭐️ This week's topic(s) ⭐️

✨Option one

Tell us about a piece of music or song you love, that moves you, and makes you feel deeply. Share the link to the music if you like.

✨Option two

Tell us about the most recent music or track you have began listening to and tell us why you like it, what it means to you and why.

✨Option three

What was the best live concert you have been to and tell us what made it so special.

✨Option four

Tell us about your personal musical or singing ability, talent or experiences.

✨Option five

Is there a song you absolutely can't abide? One that grinds your gears. Tell about it and why. Drop the link if you dare.

✨Option six

If you could gift a song or piece of music to another Hive user, who would it be, what song or piece of music and why would you gift it to that person?

  1. ¡Holy Moly Guacamole! where to start with this challenge?

  2. Could G-dog or another equally evil and sinister soul force me to go through and overcome a challenge as difficult as this?

  3. Doesn't G-dog knows that having an abundance of knowledge and experiences on a subject is almost the same as not knowing anything at all because then it's very difficult for you to choose only one of them?

Ok, I guess it's payback time then. And to consolidate my revenge I have decided that I'm gonna respond to each and every one of the ✨options in the challenge. ;p

¡Be my guest!

✨Option one: Dang, Jeez, Yikes & Holy Smokes folks. The option with the most difficult question of all. Since I could choose from gazillions of songs and pieces of music that I love, one which moves me and makes me feel deeply till the core.

In case someone didn't know, just tell you that it's very rare a post I publish in which I don't share any of these favorite songs I love. But that would already imply that you would have to go through my blog from top to bottom to be able to determine in which posts I have not shared a kickass song. };)

But if I have to choose now just one lovely song with a special meaning to me to fulfill this first option. It would have to be "That's the way God Planned It" by Billy Preston. But hey! not just the song or any other version of this song that Billy Preston has recorded or performed live of the many he have had.

But specifically the stunning version that he performed when he took the stage at Madison Square Garden in the Concert for Bangladesh in August 1971.

So, if you truly want to know what the heck I am talking about, then you will have no choice but to click on those colored letters above with the name of the song and live all that magical audiovisual experience so that you just begin to comprehend where the goosebumps come from. And yeah, why not? If you are curious, also click on that other color phrase that will take you to an entertaining and amusing story which tells a bit of why that song is and has always been special to me. :)

✨Option two: Well, well, well. It is not that this second option is any easy for me to respond either. Since my musical tastes are extremely eclectic, multiple, diverse and very varied. And every day I am listening to music of any style and musical genre that you can imagine. And those you can not imagine too.

So far this week I have gone from the most stale Jazz and Swing of the 50s through the cream of the cream of RocknRoll of the 60s and 70s, followed by a lot of gems and rarities of Contemporary Jazz and New Age of the 80s. To end up recently listening and enjoying the latest of the latest in electronic music in the genres of Drum&Bass and DubStep which are some of the ones I enjoy the most.

However, and if I have to be totally honest, sticking strictly to what the option two demands. I will have to confess that the most recent songs that I have heard, none of them have anything do with the musical genres that I have just mentioned.

These songs could be classified within the genre of Latin Music. But not the traditional Latin Music as many of you know it and think about. But some very beautiful songs and ballads born from the core of the old Latin American musical movement known in the 70s as La Nueva Trova Cubana.

Of these charming songs, I will share only a couple that are the most recent that I have heard and that are performed by some of the greatest and most prestigious representatives of this musical movement.

"Años"

(By Mercedes Sosa and Raimundo Fagner)

Aha! looks like you'll have to click to see it right on Youtube. But give it a go bro. I promise you won't regret it.

And the second, not only because it is a very beautiful piece too. But because I found it with the lyrics of the song with subtitles in English. So, don't forget to activate the subtitles and choose english if you want to understand what it says. ;)

"If I Were Ten Years Younger"

(By Silvio Rodríguez)

Ok, and now I'm supposed to tell you why I like it, what it means to me and why?
LMAO, for me the reason why I like them is more than evident. So, I guess I'll leave it as homework so you try to figure out the whys by yourself. Because otherwise I would never finish writing this post. Hahahaha

✨Option three: Oh! this is quite a difficult option for me too. Choosing just one of the memorable live concerts I have attended in my long life? ¡Wowza, where do I start! ...Okay, ok, I will only begin by mentioning one of the most memorable. The Rare Earth Live Concert on January 7 & 8, 1972 carried out in La Plaza Monumental de Valencia, Venezuela which was truly unforgettable and hallucinating.

And as a curiosity I will only add that "La Plaza Monumental de Valencia" at the time was no more than just a huge Bull Fighting Ring that was specially conditioned for that massive Rock concert. And in consequence, it lacked of all the comforts and conditioning specifically for this type of massive attendance musical events.

However, this unique Rock concert was a resounding success and one of the most remembered by all the members of my generation in my country. And so successful was this Live Rock concert of Rare Earth in that place that just over a year later on October 6, 1973 Santana's famous concert in my country was also held there in what was known in Venezuela as El Santanazo.

However, and to finish with this third ✨option, I don't want to fail to also mention two other memorable concerts that were held, in this case, in the capital city of Caracas in another also famous Bull Fighting Ring called El Nuevo Circo de Caracas.

Where for the purposes of telling you what made them so special, I certainly can't avoid of including them. Only, that I won't do it now but in a next occasion. LoL

So, I'm only gonna tell you that it was the Live Soul/Funk Concert of James Brown on August 30, 1973 and the Live Rock Concert of Blood, Sweat & Tears on September 12, 13 & 14, 1974. At some point later I will tell you why these were so special.

✨Option four: Alright, I think that from this fourth ✨option onwards I already will be able to tell you the stories a bit shorter. Just so you don't get bored too soon and suddenly stop reading this lively chronicle. LoL

So I will tell you that in the singing department as one of my personal musical abilities, I have none. C'mon! not even in the shower ¡WTF! However, and without having any special musical talent, especially from an academic point of view. Certainly I could tell you that I can defend myself quite well on the guitar and a little less playing the keyboards to create some pretty cool music.

So in relation to sharing with you my experiences in this section. I will just tell you that I have recently published a couple of posts where I tell a little about the history of some tracks that I created in the early 90s in the Techno and Trance music genres.

You can check them here and also here if you are interested in shake your butt a bit and having your feet tapping a little this weekend. Otherwise, I would only have to invite you to take a brief tour thru my Bandcamp account and there you will be able to choose a wide variety of different musical genres that I have also created many years ago for your enjoyment and scrutiny.

✨Option five: Sheesh! finally an easy ✨option to answer and the shortest to describe in this long and tedious post. ¡Holy Cow!

Well, honestly, due to my very varied musical tastes, I really don't think there is or that I remember any songs that I absolutely can't abide or one that really grinds my gears. I am really a music lover and it is very difficult for me to find a song that I really hate. Including the worst of the worst of Reggaeton.

Due that I am one of those who does not pay even the slightest attention to the lyrics of the songs. I always find something tasty in the rhythm, in the melody or in the harmony of each song worth celebrating and enjoying. So there you have it G-dog. There isn't a song that I can't stand.

✨Option six: "If you could gift a song or piece of music to another Hive user, who would it be, what song or piece of music and why would you gift it to that person?"

The easiest ✨option to answer of the whole bunch. The best song and piece of music I can think of to give as a gift and not just to another Hive user, but to the entire Hive user population. It is nothing more and nothing less than an universal anthem in the heart of old hippies like me and the immortal tune that I am gonna share next. And the why? I hope and aspire that it is more than evident to you.

¿Guess which song it is?

Oh yeah, but first you will have to prove that you are of legal age. ¿What did you expect?

Oh! are you still a minor? Ok, then don't worry.

How many good memories those songs of la Nueva Trova bring back to me, of friends singing to the sound of a guitar. The two songs you include here are beautiful, although my favorites from that time are Ojalá by Silvio Rodríguez and Para Vivir and De Que Callada Manera by Pablo Milanés.

I was a little girl to remember those concerts you mentioned, jeje ;) And I must confess that I have a hard time listening to Reggaeton. Saludos!
