A Beautiful Sublime Sunday with the Blue Moon of Hallows' Eve and Feathered Friends...
On Hallows' Eve the sky cleared for a bit to let that rare blue full moon shine bright! It was a little chilly but I bundled up and got some marvelous shots until my fingers were getting numbed by the cold and I had to call it a night. Oh how I love being out in the light of the full moon!

As the evening went on it got colder which created sort of a fog in the air making for some eerie pictures

Up in the sky fairly close to the full moon a bright orange star was shining which I believe is the planet Mars. It's funny how a dot appears in the middle and rings when I zoom in for a close up shots. I'm not sure what causes that, if there is sort of a pulsating light coming from it because it is so far away or what. If any of you know please fill me in on why it appears the way it does in my photos which are zoomed in 60X.

In the morning sky when the moon had set there was another bright star. This time it was a white star and I believe it is Venus (it has that same dot in the center when you take a close up shot).

And I couldn't leave without a close up shot of the full moon showing all the details on the surface of the moon.

I like to see what type of weather the full moon brings in for they say that is going to be the weather pattern you will be having for the next bit. This time it bought in milder weather with above average temperatures. I'm happy with that for before we were having below average temperatures and it was beginning to feel like winter. Our winters are so long here that it is nice to get a reprieve and the longer we can delay winter the better!
The birds were enjoying the milder weather too! We had flocks of Evening Grosbeaks coming into the yard to feed on the maple tree seeds. In one of my previous posts here I shared about the pine grosbeak that were coming into the yard but they were eating the lilac bush seeds.
I love the bright yellow of the male evening grosbeaks adding some color to the landscape!

The female grosbeaks are not so brightly colored with only a slight yellow coloring in their feathers.

Over at the feeder the grayjay was back for a visit. Actually there was a pair of them but I couldn't get a good shot of them together.

We had put some fat out which brought the magpie around. They are a little more skittish but I got a photo of him looking down from high up in the spruce tree.

That's it this time around. I hope you all get out and take in some of that brilliant light from the full moon. They count it as full moon for three days - the day before the official full moon and the day after so you can still catch it.

Nice :)
The coloring on the magpie sure is eye catching! I hadn't realized it was a blue moon this last month...
Moon and stars and lots of birds! Wonderful photos!
ah I caught a bit of the full moon too but no birds.
sorry, didn't pick up earlier because it wasn't in the first 5 tags and my script cannot pick it up.
