Wednesday Walk - Ring Around the Sun and Blizzard On It's Way But Today is a Beautiful Day with New Feathered Friends...
Off on our morning walk we were greeted by the appearance of the sun with a ring around it. There were some interesting cloud formations in the sky that made for some awesome shots.
It is said that sun dogs or rings around the sun were suppose to signify a weather disturbance coming. Today was beautiful but there was a weather warning for a clipper moving in bringing a blizzard - time to button down the hatch!
That isn't until tomorrow and I wanted to thoroughly enjoy today!
Come along and enjoy the sites!

Walking by the neighbor's field I spied a flock of whitish birds flying up into the trees lining the field. On closer look I realized they were the snow buntings. They are not a common bird for me to see because in the winter they usually migrate to open fields or by lake shores and most of the area around where I live is covered with forest. I guess the neighbor's field was large enough to attract them and they were feeding the cows oat straw there which is a preferred diet of the buntings - the different grass seeds and other seeds on the ground, along with insects in the summer.

Back at the yard the Evening Grosbeaks were up in the pine trees and at the feeder. The males add some color to the landscape with the bright yellow feathers. The females have a more muted color.

The end of the day bought a lovely sunset with some light clouding in the sky.

Absolutely beautiful! It looks really cold though. I'm guessing that ring are ice crystals formed in the atmosphere. A few months ago there were some around the moon that I captured. They were absolutely stunning.
Fantastic post! I'll trade you a pair of Cardinals for a pair of Snow Buntings! ❄️😉
Each bird such distinguished beauty, fabulous photography, really enjoying your snow and cool life up North during the winter season!
Sun rings make another piece in amazing nature, whether we look up or down being outdoors always reveals something different in life, sometimes makes one wonder how many never get outside.

That is a concern of mine that folks in lockdown never get outside or those in inner city never get out to the wilderness or more natural settings. I was instilled with a love of nature from a young age and appreciate every moment out in it!
We also grew up in nature, always outdoors. It is concerning how people are confined and unable to go into public spaces for half an hour of sunshine or fresh air.
