Hive-Power-Up-Day (HivePUD) 01-05-2022 // Now a Minnow!

Hello Everyone,

HivePowerUpDay or HivePUD is the first day of every month. You need to powerUp your hive to participate in this event. I will quote the all-knowing @thekittygirl who can explain power-up much better than me.

The PowerUp process is when we take liquid assets (HIVE, in this case) and stake it on-chain. In very simplistic terms, it's akin to buying stock, proving that you believe in the future of the chain. In return for the stake, those who PowerUp have a greater vote-value when they upvote posts (which, in turn, earn greater Curation Rewards), have more Resource Credits (RC) with which to transact with the blockchain and earn 'dividends' of HP awarded periodically over time. It was a good month for me. I finally become a Minnow last month on Hive. I will be doing a 10 HP powerup this time as I used my liquid hive to buy Millionaire Card in Rising Star Game. And I did power up during the month too.

After powering up, I am now very close to 600 HP. Let's see if I can get to 700 HP before next month. 🤞

And here is the growth chart for the past month. You can see the big powerup in the form of a long step on 13th April.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone involved in this event. And to all those who make this event successful, doing their bits and powering up whatever they can. Every bit of Hive powered up shows the trust people have in Hive. I am proud to be a hivian and will always be.

Congratulations again on your "minnowship", @pravesh0. That is a very cool achievement. I am still 331.438ʜᴩ away from the magical 500ʜᴩ mark, but I am getting there slowly.

I will be doing a 10 HP powerup this time...

That is all it takes anyway, right? I thought there is a minimum of 10% of your current ʜᴩ, once you get past a certain level, to qualify for the #HivePUD events?

To get to my "minnowshop", I powered up 50+ hive at one time as I was too excited to get there and didn't want to wait for 15 more days. haha.

Here are the requirements again from @traciyork's post that I linked in my post.

The requirements are:

Your reputation must be above 39 and below 70.

Your total Hive Power (before the 1st) must be more than 100 and less than 8000.

You must power up at least 10 Hive on May 1st.

You must write a post about your power up on May 1st with the tag #HivePUD and/or #HPUD (International), or #HispanicHPUD (Hispanic) as one of your first 5 tags (tagging only in the body of the post doesn't count).

The sad part is that the winners are calculated based on % increase in your total HP. So, say even if I powered up 100 HP and a person with 100 HP powered up 20 HP. That person would still be placed higher on the list.

I once made it to the top 5 or 6 (can't remember now) in the official winner's list, when I was around 100 HP. And I am afraid I can't do that again. haha
