Hunting both Prey and Predators in Savanna | theHunter: Call of the Wild

Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.

In the last post, we were exploring the Dzonga region in Savanna and we witness a beautiful cave painting. They would have been one of the oldest cave paintings. We also saw a surprise Cape Buffalo attack which we nearly survived.

In this new session, I was in the mood for completing more tasks for my Grandfather and warden who is still giving me a tour of the entire reserve to me. I was assigned a task to harvest a Springbok and complete all the harvest checks.

There are four harvest checks in the game and you have to complete all to get the maximum trophy out of your kill. You have to hit a vital organ and kill an animal with 2 or less than 2 shots, the kill should be quick and you need to use the right calibre weapon (too weak or too powerful will ruin your harvest score).

There is a class system in the game and each animal belongs to a class from 1 to 9 depending on how strong and big the animal is, eg... rabbits and turkeys are class 1 while Cape Buffalos are class 9.

Springbok are class 3 animals and I had a weapon which can cover class 2-6. I bought some more bullets for my Ranger .243 Rifle and left my outpost to find and hunt Springboks.

I knew a place where I found some a few days ago so I decided to look around this place. It was grassland with patches of long dried grass which can hide a small antelope like Springbok easily.

I found some footsteps and followed them for a while until I heard the warning calls. It felt like I was chasing them and they were one step ahead of me at all times. At last, I gave up I should have waited patiently instead. So, I went back to the place I started looking for.

There was a beautiful mountain as the backdrop.

I finally saw one but it was facing away from me and there were no vital organs at the back so I had to wait for it to turn but it stood there without moving much so I decided to go around to make a side-on shot.

I was keeping an eye on my animal as well but it turned and spotted me and I had just a split second to switch to my rifle and the next moment it was running very fast. I knew I messed up my chance, they are one of the fastest land animals capable of outrunning even the lions. Well, another one got away. I could have killed it easily but I won't be getting the harvest check so I decided to wait for a clean shot.

Okay, so the third time is the charm, right? Well, I looked around for another one and saw tracks. After following the tracks for some time it lead me to an open grassland and when I looked with my binoculars one Springbok was eating calmly.

This was in an open area and was busy feasting on the grass so I moved carefully closer and closer until I got almost around 150m marks.

I switched to my Ranger .243 and carefully aimed and took a shot. I went for a lung shot which gives me good results every time.

This was a smaller female and it dropped dead instantly. I was not expecting that. Anyways, this gave me a Bronze trophy as it was only level 1 difficulty and this marked the completion of a long mission. It could have been way shorter but these Springbok are very agile and likes to hide in bushed when feels threatened.

I wanted to hunt more animals and went to the western side of the Vuxa region to find some bigger games like Wildebeest or Gemsbok. After looking around for some time I spotted a Lioness who was coming towards my direction. I was inside a large bush when I spotted it. So I was hidden well.

I knew it would get my scent any time so I acted fast and quickly switched to my powerful 7mm empress magnum rifle. It was less than 150m away from me and passing through the long grassy patch. I aimed and took a shot at the lungs but missed the lungs and got the liver instead, which is also a vital organ that most animals can't take it.

It fleed the area but my dog tracked down the kill as it was bleeding heavily. Still, it managed to get at least 300 meters from the spot of the hunt.

I was still not finished and while roaming around, I saw a herd of Gemsbok resting.

It was not moving so I had an easy target this time. This was a big male weighing over 220 kg and look at those beautiful horns. This gave me a gold trophy and chose to taxidermize it so I can place it in my shed later.

I explored the nearby lake for more animals but I didn't find any. Maybe I choose the wrong time of the day to visit here. Anyways, this was a big lake in the middle of this hot and dry place. This was a perfect ending to my hunting session.

Thanks for reading...

Until next time...

How beautiful is The Hunter: Call of the Wild, I remember I was going to buy it on steam until I saw the minimum requirements, I did not want to play it, it was going to make my pc explode.

I'm content to play the game called Deer hunter, which is like an old version of Call of the Wild, you made me remember that game when you mentioned shooting the organs of animals.
