Mineclone Diary: Pillaging the Pillager Outpost and Exploring the Nether

Hello and welcome back to my blog.

I have been enjoying Mineclone, a game trying to replicate the gameplay of the popular game, Minecraft. And to my surprise it does a very good job. It runs on the open-source engine of Minetest and we have a server running on the latest version of Mineclone.

I found a Pillager Outpost next to the village, it was a big wooden tower and was so close that sometimes Pillagers would spawn in the village. So, it became an issue for me. That was the time when I decide to raid this tower.

It was a big tower but there was an ever-higher hill on the side of it. And as going from the bottom to the upper floor where the loot chest is placed is not easy so I decided to attack from the top. I made a bridge from that hill. I saw at least 5 pillagers on the top floor each firing at the same time and giving me significant damage. I couldn't find the courage to jump down and take them on.

I took the help of water and by placing water from a hole in the ceiling they were pushed to one side. It was easier to target them now as everyone was pushed to the side. I took my diamond sword and jumped inside. They fired the initial round but I quickly healed back up and started attacking them. There were 4-5 and just a couple of them got the chance to reload their crossbows and attack me again.

I opened the loot chest and it was disappointing, to say the least. A few logs with potatoes and carrots. Almost useless for me at this point. I was not happy with the loot and decided to burn the entire place down. There were still pillagers on the ground who were spawning there and I thought if I burn the entire tower they would not spawn further.

I went down with my Flint and steel and burned the entire tower.

This was the only part remaining and now the pillager problem is fixed.

Moving on to the best part of the game, the nether world. A new mod that has been added to the game introduced some new biomes in the game. Some of the biomes are in the nether and they look spectacular.

There are glowing blocks in the nether. I found some natural lamps inside the nether. There is this blue-green biome where blocks have natural illuminations and they grow.

There are colourful vines that drop from the ceiling as well. Look at how beautiful the nether looks.

The above picture is something equivalent to a Warped Forest but much more beautiful I guess. I found a warped fungus and trees. I also saw some piglins in the distance.

While I was putting some torches down, I saw a Hoglin who charged at me and attacked me. Its attacks were powerful and they threw me a few blocks back. I need to be careful with those. I managed to kill him and his brother too.

The Nether is full of mysteries, I saw many weird plants and blocks. I also found these golden blocks, they are not gold. I was examining this and a Hoglin came charging at me and killed me with only 3 hits. They are very fast and running from them was a stupid idea, I should have built up and stayed out of its reach.

I found some blocks with Pyrite, once mined they drop "Pyrite clump" which can be smelted in a furnace to get Pyrite ingot. My initial thought was it can be made into armour and tools but I didn't see the recipe which uses these apart from a Pyrite block. Maybe I need some other items to use them.

There are still so many secrets to unearth in the nether. I have yet to find nether fortress, bastions and ruined portals in the nether. Can't wait to explore those and find what type of loot they hold.
