New King of the Jungle || Hunting Lions in theHunter: Call of the Wild

Hello, games. Welcome back to my blog.

I am back with another episode of theHunter: Call of the Wild. I am still in Vuronga Savana reserve and I am loving this map. This has become my go-to map because of its wide, open grasslands, allowing me to spot animals from far away. However, I would love to upgrade my rifle and scopes but I need better "rifle scores" and I can increase my rifle score only by harvesting animals shot from my rifle.

There are some interesting skills and perks in the game like experiencing less wobble while aiming. But I need more XP to get these. So, naturally, I decided to complete some missions.

I saw on my huntermate (phone) and accepted a new mission Welcome to Springbok City.

In this mission, I have to go to the lookup tower and spot some male and female springboks.

It was already evening and the sun was about to set and I hate nighttime in this game, you can't see shit to see something you have to buy night vision scopes and binoculars and I am not buying those haha. So, I decided to sleep and pass some time. I set my waking time to 6:45 am.

I started my journey in the morning. I was not ready for what was about to come. I heard a lion's roar and I was very excited to take on my first lion in this game. I knew you could take down a lion if you aim for a vital organ.

That was a female lion. She was eating her meal when I spotted her. I couldn't control myself and took a shot at her lungs. Did I hit or miss? I was not sure, I checked my map for hunting pressure (to confirm the kill) but there was none. I thought I missed her. But then when I checked my map again I saw a red spot on the map indicating an animal died there.

I was relieved to see the blood splatter that confirmed I hit a vital organ. Now, all I had to do was track down her and harvest my kill. But it was not easy. I had to take a detour from my mission area. My Dog helped me track my kill.

We tracked her down, she travelled over 700 meters before going down. This only shows my rifle is not made to hunt these big predators. I need to upgrade my rifle to better suit this big game.

Here is my kill, looks like she was eating when I shot her. You can see from the above stats page, this is a class 9 animal and I need a class 9 weapon to pass the harvest check and get an ethical kill but I had the ranger .243 that only has ammo dealing up to class 6. But I get 672 cash and some XP. So, not a bad kill.

Okay, back to the mission, no point distracting myself from all the animals I find on my way.

But I was distracted again. I spotted a herd of "Gemshoks". They were resting.

I spotted an unfinished hunting structure, I spend my hard-earned cash to finish this and I can get to a height and see the land better from there. Also, I will create significantly less hunting pressure in the area when I shot animals from here.

I took a shot and it dropped dead right there. Must be a heart shot. And I was right, he didn't move an inch, you can see the "trekking distance" is 0 meters i.e. dropped dead on the spot. I took this shot from 225 meters and I surprised myself with this shot. The bullet pierced flesh, left lung, heard and right lung with this shot. What a great shot that was!

I had to get back to my mission, every time I tried to go to the coordinate marked on my map, someone distract me and it happened again. This time it was a huge lion. Yes, another lion!!

As I was about to take a shot, it ran away and I didn't want to shoot a non-vital organ and chase after this for eternity. So, I tried to follow in its footsteps but it sensed me and went into the long grass where I didn't want to risk myself. They can attack back.

Okay, back to the mission for the fifth time or something. Finally, I managed to reach the watch tower.

I climbed up and surveyed the whole area. I got some XP and the warden assigned me the next task: locate one male and one female SpringBok. They are small antelope if I remember correctly that can jump very high and hence, the name springbok.

While my grandfather (warden) was giving me details of the mission, I spotted the Lion that went into the high grass. He seems to be travelling now. I didn't take a shot, he was travelling and level 6 difficulty, my ranger .243 might not take him down.

I stayed on this watch tower for some time to spot some Springboks for my mission but there were none. And no one seemed to be travelling as well. I decide to wait longer on this watchtower. And this is the time when my game crashed.

This has to be the end of the episode. Maybe no one wants me to finish this mission haha. First spotting a lion than a gemsbok, then a few scrub hares in between that distracted me a lot and now finally when I was about to spot some Springboks my game crashed. What an end to the episode.

Anyways, it was a productive session. Got my first lion. I thought it would take me much longer but the stars aligned today and I could harvest a fine lion.

I will meet you with another session, hopefully completing the mission that I started without getting distracted by other wildlife hahaha.

Thanks for reading...

Until next time...

I love the graphics, by the way. Hunting a lion... wow. I can say that I am curious about the game for the landscapes, otherwise hunting is not something I am very interested in, but the images you have taken and shared look potentially very beautiful landscapes. 👏👏

Yes, this map is my favorite, there are other reserves or parks in the game from different parts of the world. You will find animals in their natural habitat. While you are hunting you will learn a lot about the local wildlife and terrain. The missions are designed in a way to educated people more about the wildlife.

I love the game, it is relaxing and you get immersed in the game. Hunting is just a bonus haha.

I just saw this game on Steam the other day and thought about buying it. The price seems quite reasonable with the current discount. I think I'll give it a try. Also, I'm sorry to hear about the game crashing. Is it game related or your computer? If it's game related it might change my mind about buying this game lol.

I don't think it is game related, must be my pc. And this was the first crash I experienced since playing.
I bought it last month on steam sale as well. I will recommend ot if you have some patience. We can also play togething on a hosted reserve although, I haven't tried it.
