3 years on hive/ My hive journey (trust me, you can’t even begin to imagine)

I’ve seen a lot of post lately where people write about their hive experience and how hive changed their lives and each time I finish reading one of those posts, I can’t help it but smile because I know no one can even begin to imagine how hive has changed my life.

My journey as a writer began here on hive (then steem) after a friend talked about it during one of our group chats on WhatsApp. We were about eighty-six people in the group at that time but nobody paid attention to what he was saying, no one except me, and that was how a whole new chapter in my life started.

My first post here had been lame, I had copied a few things online and pasted it here hoping to see some cool dollar figure on it. I had done that twice before I realized that that wasn’t how it works over here. I began to read and comment on post of people like donkeypong hoping that maybe he could spare a one dollar upvote. Back then it was all about the money for me, I had no friends over here (except for the one who introduced me) and so I was just focused on earning until I realized there was more to hive than just earning and that was when hive changed from what it used to be for me before to what it is now for me, a place where I come to interact with my friends. I met and made a lot of friends but here and on discord. It was literally like I was getting paid just to interact and have fun with people from different parts of the world, I was living the dream… I am living the dream.

Thinking about what I have accomplished with hive, I know there is no way I can list all of them. My writing (which started here) got better and better all thanks to me constantly writing and improving myself here on hive and the things I got with the money I made from hive is countless. An iphone, a laptop, a fan and many other things. I had also paid my rent and paid off some school bills all thanks to hive.

But one of my biggest and greatest achievement was the day I called my dad over the phone and asked him not to bother sending me money for my upkeep anymore as I was now capable of taking care of myself. My dad had been surprised considering the fact that I was just an undergraduate student with no job that he knows of, but I knew he had been proud of me (and still is) because I could tell from his voice that day over the phone.

All this wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for hive and the beautiful people here, so I say thank you and cheers to more blissful years here on hive.

Hahaha. My dad did ask where I was getting the money from and I calmly explained everything to him.

Hive can do wonderful things for people, and that must have been a lovely moment speaking to your dad on the phone. Great work!!

By the way, one of the rules of this contest is to pin your post to the Hi from Hive map, can you please update your post accordingly? Thanks
