People over here will always say "Everyday for the Thief and one day for the owner" and what that simply means is that you can do all manner of bad things as much as you want but there's always going to be that one day where you get caught and face the consequences of your actions, almost like karma (if not karma).

Well I had a little taste of the "Every day for the Thief" proverb some couple of days back and every time I think about it, I just can't help but laugh at myself.

I happen to be a member of this Whatsapp group which hosts quiz on random topics every now and then and never has there been a time I've won the quiz and this was because there happen to be a lot of intelligent people in that group, or that was what I thought.

I had later found out that though there were indeed intelligent people in the group who were answering the questions from their head, there were also those who had quick fingers and would quickly go to Google to copy and paste the questions asked so that they could get the answers. When I found out about this, I decided I was done not winning and was going to cheat my way to the top if I had to.

Now bear in mind that this quiz had no prizes attached to it. It was mainly hosted just for fun and mostly to keep ourselves busy at night. So with my new plans of winning, I waited for the next quiz.

The day finally came and I got my Google ready. When the first question was dropped, I immediately copied it and pasted it on Google. Immediately Google came up with the answer, I copied the answer and went straight to paste it at the whatsapp group. I did it a couple of time and it didn't take long for me to be at the top of the list, leading with many points.

But you see, the quiz was now getting intense and there were now a lot of people participating, both those that were answering from their head and those that were cheating like I was. But that wasn't a problem to me, all I had to do was be fast and I was good to go, so I became fast. I would copy and paste the question as quickly as I could and the moment I got the answer, I would paste it. It worked sometimes, sometimes it didn't because there were some cases where someone was faster than me, so I decided to add more speed in my search and that was when I messed up.

I had copied the question from the whatsapp group, gone to paste it on Google, and after Google gave me the answers, I had gone to paste it at the group and clicked send only to realize that instead of sending the answers, I had mistakenly resent the question that was asked.

What that meant was that I had forgotten to copy the answer Google had given to me and thought I did. Everyone in the group immediately understood what had just happened and they all began to laugh at me. I had to come clean because there was nothing I could say to defend myself, I had been caught cheating.

We all made jokes about it and I thought that would be it but no, they still joke about it till this day. I guess that is the consequences I have to pay for cheating.
