Hell on earth

There's a saying that the last person who went to hell forgot to close the gate behind him, and that is why there is currently so much heat in the country. Then there's another saying that due to the many bad things happening in the world today, nothing is working as it should, not even the weather.

And that is currently what we're experiencing in the country today. Usually during this time, the weather is expected to be cold and dusty due to the harsh harmattan season that usually starts between the ember month to the month of February but of course, the last politician who died while watching the African cup of nation and probably went to hell due to the many corruption he was involved in, thought it was a good idea to leave the gates of hell open and that is why for the past few weeks (if not more than a month now), it has been hell for every one of us here in the land of the living.

The weather has been so hot that I remember visiting three different locations that had a pool with my friends and the whole place was filled up, due to people wanting to cool off from the heat and that is just during the daytime. At night, it's a worser case as it feels a lot more hotter during that time.

It got so hot that myself, along with some other guys at the hostel had made up our mind to always sleep outside until this whole heat thing is taken care of by whatever Angel is in charge of taking care of it.

Again, this is a pure case of "you don't know what you have until you lose it" because during the ember month last year when it was always cold, everyone was complaining and I remember how I would wrap myself with multiple piece of clothing just to feel warm, but now that everywhere is like this, I now know that my favorite weather is no doubt the harmattan season because with the harmattan season, there's a remedy to the cold.

You could wear multiple clothes and drink hot tea to stay warm, you could also close all of your windows and every space where cold air could be entering your home from, but with the heat it's an entirely different thing because even if you do decide to go to bed naked and wake up every thirty minutes to take a cold shower, you will end up sweating profusely.

And I know, a lot of you might be wondering why don't we just turn on the air conditioner or the fan but unless you've never been or heard about this side of the world, then you would know that the power supply over here is nothing to write home about and that most of us depend on turning on our generator in order to charge our phones and gadget.

And unfortunately, due to the fact that I live in an hostel, we have a 12am rule, which states that all generators must be turned off before or by 12am in order to allow every other person have a good night rest. So what that means is that the heat action doesn't start until about 12:01am every night.

It's terrible experience you are facing. I can feel it because in my country the situation was more worse in last summer and electricity issues increased. I wish this time the electricity will not make us suffer for that once more. I just hope in your country the temperature will drop and hope for the best.

I'm actually praying for the weather to get better because that has more chance of happening than me praying for better electricity supply.

It was so hot yesterday that I have to take my family for a swim. I wonder when the heat waves will stop. My kids hardly wear clothes at home because of the heat.
