How Do You Do It
How exactly does one move on?
The other day, I was seeing a movie with a friend of mine, and the plot of the movie was basically about a lady whose husband wanted a divorce, but she kept on trying her best to save the marriage.
While we both were watching the movie, we had both come to the conclusion that it would have been best for the lady to leave, since the man was obviously no longer interested in the marriage. But then we began to really talk about divorce and how hard it must be for people who've been married for twenty years to just decide to get up and leave without looking back.
Funny enough, I used to be one of those people who thought it was something easy to do until I got heartbroken and my yearlong relationship ended. I remember not being able to move on from this; as a matter of fact, there are still times when I feel like I haven't moved on completely yet.
I actually also know someone whose five-year relationship ended earlier this year, and it's been seven months already, and yet he keeps calling his ex and trying to get back to her, even though she had told him on multiple occasions that she now was seeing someone else.
According to him, he doesn't know how to move on, and he still is in love with her and wishes she would give him one more chance. But unfortunately for him, the ex doesn't seem to care and happens to be living her best life with someone else.
And to be honest, I think that is the quickest way to move on from someone, by meeting someone else, but is that really the right thing to do? Would you really love that person, or are you just using them to get over the situation at hand?
I can understand the situation, and I feel that a strong mind knows how to move on even without a replacement. I have a friend who was in a relationship for 9 years. He had his pride and self-respect. He ended the relationship because his lover's family looked down on him and his family, and his lover kept quiet. So, he ended the relationship just because of his self-respect, and it ended forever. If anyone has self-respect, he should not bother their ex-lover at least. I am dedicating the previous line to your friend.
In that case, I want to ask you if a person stays in such a state to love others? Or do they truly deserve the love of others?
