If it's bad then it's bad, don't compromise
Just some few days ago, I was on the phone trying to talk some sense into my little brother because I had discovered he had engaged in some online sport betting. He couldn't understand why I was angry at him considering it wasn't really a big deal and something he had simply just tried out just for fun.
But you see, over the years, experience has thought me that if you know something is bad and you have no plans of actively engaging in it, do not try to "test" it just to see how it feels like. I remember I had this friend who once asked me that how do I know that I don't like to smoke if I hadn't tried it, he basically was saying that you have to try something out first before ruling it out of your life completely, a mentality that I believe is wrong in every way.
If someone lives their life based on that rule, then that life would definitely be a short one, because there are a lot of things out there (that has the power to destroy and kill you) that I hate that I've never tried before and never will, smoking being one of them.
Now the reason why I was upset and was trying to make my brother understand that trying it once is enough problem itself is because my friend's dad will always say that if you don't have plans on doing something (especially when it's something bad), don't start it just to see how it feels like because there's a huge possibility that the first time you do it, everything might go fine for you then you try again and again until something goes wrong, in this case, until you get addicted to gambling.
Reminds me of a friend of mine who needed money and decided it was a good idea to go take a loan from one of these online banking apps. The first loan he took he had paid with no stress, but then he started seeing it as an avenue for him to get some money and pay later whenever he was broke, and now he has borrowed more than he can pay back and with each day that passes, the bank adds an interest to his loan, making his debt increase everyday.
If only he hadn't taken that first loan, then he probably wouldn't be in the mess that he's in today, if only he hadn't started what he had no plans to seeing through. Hopefully I get to talk some sense into my brother and help him see how dangerous and addictive gambling could get... I just pray I'm not too late.
The test is a trap and it's the process of starting of everything, especially in case of bad things. Why does one need to test something which can destroy life?
Those people who say that everything needs to be tested once in life, for them I also have a task to test. Why they don't jump over from a building's roof? I am sure they won't go with the logic in that case.

Betting is not good at all and as a good brother, you get angry on your brother and it was natural, because we don't want our loved ones to indulge in some bad activities.
Yeah, especially seeing how I already had experiences with it in the past.
Of course it is a fact that such things are not good at all and there can be a lot of harm in them, so your brother should understand this and leave this business for quick profit cycles. I get us into a lot of trouble.
Yeah it does get us into a lot of trouble.. I just pray he sees reasons with me and stops.
