Making Plans for the Future

When it comes to predicting our future, we are always quick to say good things about it, totally ignoring the bad things, while knowing fully well that that's not how life works. Don't get me wrong, I know it's only natural for one to want nothing but good things for themselves especially seeing how we're predicting it ourselves, therefore we're in charge and get to predict whatever it is we want for ourselves but eliminating it entirely just doesn't feel realistic.

But everyone is free to go crazy with their imaginations (and that is what I too will be doing), that's the beauty of it so I really shouldn't be complaining about that.

The last contest for this week from the Hive Learners community has to do with us predicting our future five years from now. For me, I like to plan ahead but I sometimes also like to just handle things as they unfold right in front of me, that way I don't get to think too much all the time.

And sometimes life has a way of sending us to places we never even planned for, but if I somehow happen to be in charge of everything going on in my life from now till the next five years, then five years from now, I probably would be in a whole different country, trying to make a life for myself because the goal has always been to leave Nigeria to a place where things work.

But if that doesn't happen, then I most definitely might end up being a business man. It's either one of these two, if not, then whatever it is I will be doing in the next five years would be something life brings my way, something I don't know about yet.

Because the truth is that five years is a long time for anything to happen, for me to meet a new opportunity that could turn my life around and change it from what I know now to something entirely different.

Now some of you might be wondering why my first thought on what five years from now would be for me is me leaving the county, you might even think that I already have plans in place. The answer is no but, let's just say its a feeling. Leaving the country has always been in my to-do list, I've just never really focused on it because I had to do the basic things of life like finishing my education (which I will be doing this year or early next year), and the moment I'm done with that, I will have more than enough time to make plans for whatever next step I want to take.

I've never really had plans on working for anyone in Nigeria and that is why I've also made up my mind to start a business of my own if I don't get to travel out of the country.

One thing I do know for sure that I won't be doing in the next five years is getting married, but that is a discussion for another day.

It might not seem natural or positive to predict or envisage negative things for our future that is why we focus on the positive know that bad thing might happen.
All the best of luck with your dreams to leave your home country or to start your own business.

Yeah I know that no one in their right senses would want to predict bad things for themselves 😅.. I guess I was just trying to be too realistic.
