Sometimes, we just have to take a moment and look back at where we came from and where we are now because we might not see how far we've come until we really pause and just think about it. I remember when I was a kid, I lived in the ghetto with my parents and my siblings and it wasn't a fun experience at all.

One thing about living in the ghetto was that crazy things could happen at any given moment. Especially when you live in a ghetto that still follows a lot of traditional rules from way back during the days of our forefathers when they still performed sacrifices and rituals.

I remember way back at 2005, there was this day where my school had called for an emergency assembly and had separated the students based on where they lived and this was because a parent who had gone to pick her kid early from school that day had given them the information that a kind of a certain area was about to perform some certain rituals that would involve them killing anyone they saw on the road. Unfortunately, it turned out it was the king of the area where I lived.

I remember my dad rushing to my school to pick me up but I had met him on the road (because I was already on my way home) and then he had asked me to continue walking home while he rushed over to my older brother's school to go pick them up. Moments like this were always very scary because within minutes, the whole street would be empty, there would be no living soul walking and then all of a sudden you start to hear some really weird noises outside.

Unfortunately our parents never permitted us to take a peep so we never really saw what or who were making such noises, we just allowed our imagination do the thinking and trust me when I say we were having some really wild imaginations.

I remember this one time when my grandmother had paid us a visit all the way from the village. My mom had just given birth to my little brother so grandma had come to assist. Then one afternoon, grandma, and I and my brothers were at my mom's shop which was right in front of our house, when all of a sudden, we saw people running towards our direction. Now, I and my siblings have kinda gotten used to this kind of situations happening but not grandma, so we boys were quick to run inside the house and no one realized grandma wasn't with us until we were inside and safe.

Luckily for everyone, grandma had been smart enough to go lock herself inside the shop because she knew there was no way she was going to make it to the house on time.

I remember my dad asking one of the men outside if he could help him get his mother from the shop and the man had agreed. Thinking about all of this sometimes just makes me go down on my kneels and thank God that I and my family are way passed that now. We left the ghetto some time around early 2015, and since then, we've only gone up from there.
