Your Choice vs People's Choice

One thing I've come to notice but we all won't agree to is that we humans constantly seek other people's views on things, even on things that concerns you only and doesn't need their thoughts on it.

I did a public experiment one time on a friend who had just gotten himself a laptop. One reason he always wanted a laptop was so that he could play video games on it, so when he got himself one, he didn't hesitate to load it with a lot of video games.

One of the games was the Pro Evolution soccer, a very standard football game. So I thought about a social experiment to play on him and asked some of our friends in the same hostel to play along.

My friend had invited us into his room to come play his game and when we all got in, we started to talk about how low quality the game was and how there was even a better version of it online and that his was trash. Of course he argued back that his version was one of the best online (which was true) but then we countered his argument.

By the time we left, he still was adamant that his was also of great quality but then when everyone left, he came to me to help him download the one we were talking about and that he had deleted the old one on his system. That was when I told him that it was all a lie and that I was only carrying out a social experiment on him to see if he would stick to the one he preferred or the one other people preferred.

He told me that the only reason why he deleted his and wanted to download the one we were talking about wasn't because he felt his was trash but because he felt there was a better version of his out there and there was nothing wrong in him getting an upgraded version.

Of course a part of what he said might be true but then the whole reason why I did the whole social experiment was to know if he would get rid of the one he preferred to get what everyone else preferred and I got my answer.

I also helped him get his old game back because that was the only way I knew he was going to let me back into his room for some more gaming.

Lol.

Anyways, here's a picture that has absolutely nothing to do with this posts.

So true. A lot of people out there seek validation a lot from other people including myself, sometimes. (I'm trying to get over that). There's always this fear if we're doing it like others are because we're sometimes afraid to be judged, criticized, dragged or even stand alone.

And sometimes people seek the opinion of others for a good cause. It could be that they just want to be sure they're doing things right but it's really okay to be wrong at times. Once in a while it's cool to be you, do you, make your mistakes, learn your lessons, be yourself and get to see how people would react to that. Contrary to what one thinks atimes, someone might just be admiring you for the way you carry yourself.
