Beauty Of Hindu Art- Shree Chennakeshava Temple at Belur.

Hello hiveans! Welcome to my blog with smile and positivity.

Today I want to share a famous temple of Belur in Hassan district in karanataka. Belur was early capital of the Hoysala Kings. There is a famous temple, It is known as Chennakeshava Temple. It is 12th century temple. The full temple took aproximately 103 years to finsish. It a human made Temple of ancient times. The temple is famous for the cravings and sculpture. Its mesmerizing. It is UNESCO World Heritage Site.

My husband thought to visit this temple by Bike. So we took our Bike and started the journey. It is 250km from Bengaluru.
It took 5 hours to reach Belur. In between We took some rest had breakfast and then on the way to Belur with our daughter.

The temple has a deity of Lord Vishnu- Kesava the 24 incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Chennakeshava Temple is also known as Kesava Temple. There is a huge complex and the main temple is in the middle of the complex. The temple was repeatedly damaged during wars and rebuilt over its history. It is one of the most important and ancient Temples that has survived this long.

We have to enter the temple through a golden colour Gopuram.

The complex has number of small shrines. The temples Architecture is beautiful and in whole temple there are artwork on its outerwall. The temple stands on a wide area.
The main temple is in star shape. A beautiful stone work has been done in early times.

Small shrines -

There are numerous of small shrines and monuments inside this complex. They are very beautiful. We can spend there atleast 2 hours peacefully.

Cravings on the wall like elephants ,horses, deities, nature, old dances, gods, etc we can see. There are guides who will tell us the whole history about the temple.

It is decorated with so many artworks and dieties on the wall.

Two styles of art were used in the Temple i.e geometric and puranic stories artwork. These artworks will tell the whole history.

These sculptures and stone cravings are incredible.

By seeing this temples the whole history being told through these Architecture , the artwork and the sculptures.

Guys do visit this beautiful place once in a lifetime. I would suggest to take guide because without guide it would not be easy to understand the meaning of every carvings and culture.
