Potato Patties with yellow/ white pea curry(aloo tikki Ghugni chaat)

Indians loves chickpeas and black gram. One of the popular street food made with Chana is Ghugni chaat. You can have alone this alone like chaat or as a side dish with hot Puris. So in today's blog I am going to show you how to make Aloo tikki Ghugni chaat that means Potato Patties with yellow pea curry.

Potato Patties or aloo tikki has long been a comfort street food across the country and is eaten with various accompaniments like chutney, chickpeas etc. A crispy deep fried mix of potatoes with spices makes for this delicious vegetarian snack that you can have along a hot cup of tea. Ragda Patties or Aloo Tikki Matar Chat is one of the popular streets chaat of Mumbai.

It is simply awesome dish. I just made it yesterday as it was holiday here due to Dusshera Festival. You can have this any day you wish to have..
This is made with dried white peas or yellow peas which is then turned into spicy chapati chaat.

METHOD OF MAKING PATTIES-

●Mash the boil potatoes.

●Add redchili powder, salt, roasted cumin powder, chopped green chilli, coriander leaves, garam masala, chat masala and 2 tablespoon cornflour.

●Mix all the ingredients well.

●Divide the dough into small balls. Make meduim sized patties from the potato mixture.

●Shallow fry or pan fry till the patties are brown and crisp on both sides.

●put in a bowl and keep aside.

Now make Ghugni-

I am making quick and easy one pot ghugni.

●Heat oil in a instant pot or pressure cooker. Add the bay leafs and dried red chili. Then add cumin seeds and finely chopped onions. Saute well till onions turns brown. Now add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder and redchili powder.
Then add tomato till the tomatoes are mushy.

● add coriander powder. Mix well. Cook for 5 min until oil sepertaed the bottom.

●add soaked dried peas, salt and water.

●Pressure Cook the curry 4 whistle.

●after relasing the pressure from cooker open the lid and gently stir the curry. Ad some coriander leaves. And squeeze one lemon.

For making chaat :

  1. Take a plate in which you want to serve the chaat. Place two or three Potato Patties.

2.now spread some yellow peas Curry.

3.sprinkle curd and tamarind chutney as per preference. Add handful of chopped onions, coriander leavs and some chopped green chilies.

4.Sprinkle lot of sev on the top with little salt, red chili powder, roasted cumin powder and chat masala.

Sprinkle some coriander leaves. You can adjust your toppings as per your requirement.

Serve hot
