What does spirituality means to me (My entry for ecotrain's question of the week session 9.1)

This week's ecotrain question is very personal as well as universal. As it is related to spirituality. It is personal as everyone have a different definition of spirituality according to their own experiences and perspectives. But it is universal as Spirituality is the invisible force connecting all the particles of the universe together.

Sincerely telling if someone has asked me this question a few years ago, my answer would have been null. For I knew nothing about spirituality. Yes I was religious, believing in my religion and following the religious rituals outwardly knowing nothing about the ultimate. The year of 2013 brought to me my life's biggest blessing in disguise.

It was a pain, endless pain and conflict that I faced during that time, but I didn't know that it was the door to the bliss which I never felt before. Based on that experience of mine I am going to put forward my views related to spirituality as what exactly it is and how do you feel when you progress on this path of spirituality.

Spirituality is bliss

So spirituality for me is the door to ultimate bliss. Living in this world but without any false attachments , in the midst of sorrows and struggles when you are able to find peace inside you, when you start being grateful on almost everything that life offers you, when nothing can take your peace away, nothing can shake you from the position of your inner self, it means you have become spiritual. When you are spiritual, you really never get worried or stressed due to anything. It is some kind of bliss. This is not the temporary joy that we get from most of the material things, but this is the permanent happiness inside, then you will be happy and peaceful for everything in your life. Once you find the source of happiness inside you, you will automatically start affecting the life of others around you in very positive way.

Spirituality is awareness of oneness

Spirituality is the awareness of the Divine inside and out everywhere. When you are able to feel that you are not a separate identity but you are connected to everyone and everything else all around. When you rise above the barriers formed by religions, you will find everyone here is just like you, a simple human being made of those five elements. Everyone made up of air, water, land, sky and fire. None is different here.

I sincerely believe we need to be human first, than being Hindu Or Muslim. Yes it is good to follow your religion but what good is it if it segregates you from others. If your religions make you feel proud of your religion while it make you see the other religions followers as degraded and down, how good it is? When we see people and treat them according to their religion aren't we doing the wrong.

This nature showers it's infinite resources to everyone, , the birds chirp for everyone, the flowers bloom for everyone, the Sun shines for everyone, The clouds showers raindrops upon everyone. Nature never differentiates between people just because of their caste creed religions color nation etc. Spirituality is the awareness of same cosmic consciousness. When we come to feel the presence of Divine everywhere, we walk, talk and live gracefully. Life changes totally when you really become spiritual. I sincerely feel it is important to be spiritual more than just becoming a religious person. Earlier as I told I was just a Hindu (as I was born in Hindu family) but now I respect every religion all around the world. For now I believe I have come to know it for sure, that the Divine is one, known by thousands names , worshipped in thousands ways. But nothing is different between us. We all are the drops of the same ocean. So I respect you if you go to a mosque or church or the temple. Now religion is something that doesn't matter to me that much. This whole universe is my home now and I am a believer of the supreme consciousness connecting everyone and everything in a single thread.

Spirituality is love

When you make progress on the path to spirituality, the real religion, you will automatically start seeing Divine everywhere. You will automatically find the qualities of love compassion truthfulness growing inside you. Spirituality doesn't ask you to leave this world and your family and your job anything else. It just makes you learn how to live really. Spirituality makes you a better human being in all aspects. Automatically you start feeling the ocean of love is inside you and love always overflowing from you reaching to everyone else around you.

Spirituality is balance

Spirituality brings a state of balance in your life. You will go through a period full of happiness and you will be grateful, then troubles will come but still you will be grateful without feeling disturbed. You will do all your duties, fulfilling all your responsibilities in this world and without losing your peace and happiness inside. That's what spirituality brings to you.
