Who Wants an HSBI Unit?
Look, I have nothing against autovoting in general. But there are times when it’s just a bit discouraging to see so much of it. For some reason beyond my ken, a bunch of people have added my account to their autovoting lists or follow the trails of others who do so. My #quarantinediaries post from yesterday got 167 upvotes in the first 10 minutes. Most of them were dust votes (the pending payout of $1.27 shown after 10 minutes reflective of this) so given the curation reward curve and dust limitations many of the autovoters have little if any chance of earning curation rewards.
Sure, maybe a few of those 167 votes came from people who actually opened my post for the chance to read my elegant prose and pithy commentary. Stranger things have happened.
So this post is an experiment. I will sponsor a Hive Stake Basic Income unit (via @steembasicincome) for anyone (other than bots) who posts a comment below prior to this post’s payout.
Keep in mind that this will work best for those who already have some HSBI units. Given dust limitations, one HSBI unit all by itself isn’t all that useful. But I guess it’s a start.
Some Caveats
I reserve the right to be arbitrary and capricious. Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball.
If you and your 82 alt accounts all post comments, don’t expect to get 83 HSBI units.
As of posting this, I have about 9 liquid Hive in my account, and that might go up or down by the time of this post’s payout, plus a bit of HBD that could be converted into Hive. If 500 people post comments, well, we’ll have a problem. I guess I’d do something like use an online random number generator to choose who gets the (9?) units. But given how quiet it’s seemed around here lately, this might well not be a problem.

But I have to say that personally I do both. I follow a trail and do manual creation. I do not always have the time to read all my fav authors so I like the combo as that gives me personal satisfaction and best ROI
And HSBI are really nice, been using SBI for ages

I have to say I am really disconnected from the HSBI project? is it still working because, as far as I know, my HSBI upvotes have decreased substantially lately...

It’s still working but the depressed price of Hive certainly makes it seem like HSBI upvotes have decreased but since you’re actually rewarded with Hive rather than USD, have they really? But, yeah, delegations to @steembasicincome dropped off after the fork from the old chain, so that may have had some impact.
Vote values are in part driven by curation rewards, and many people have figured out that they can get better curation by consistently front-running our votes.
This makes the obvious SBI value lower, while the less obvious (the votes you are getting that are there to front-run your SBI votes) is actually higher. Sadly it makes it very difficult to accurately calculate the true value of on SBI subscription.
Consistantly front running bots should be a crime, and flagged mercilessly, but I'm not one of tptb.
As long as we let reward maximization abuse persist we will get more reward maximization, in perpetuity.
Tell me that the fact of continued abuse, by accounts that can make bank at this game, is not depressing the price?

You don’t even need to count this as an “entry”, you treat me to enough random gifts already that I appreciate! Just stopping by to say that while I am certainly an “auto voter”, I also read and monitor/manage that aspect of my curation actively.
I consider that type of automation to be perhaps the closest Hive has to a Patreon like system at present and I actually support it. I’d enjoy seeing tools integrated into a major front end like PeakD to normalize it & make it more accessible & transparent to newcomers. Of course this would be framed as a means of supporting creators you enjoy, not simply a yield farming ploy. I’m not nearly as much in favor of voting trails for that reason.
So, like it or not... I’ll have an auto vote parked on you for a while yet! 😜

Always looking to add to my HBI token count. I do have some auto-voting and follow a couple of curation trails, but do manage to manually vote every day.
In the other chain, I used automatic voting. I think it's a good option so you don't lose track of your favorite content creators. Now, in Hive, I do manual curation, sure, the small window sometimes makes it difficult to appreciate and enjoy the content, but it allows you to meet new authors and communities. With the automatic vote, you miss it. However, I think the best option is to use both modes.
In fact, that's how I got here.
PS: On some occasion, I received 6 SBI as a gift, I am grateful for it.
