Pagamos seguros de salud y de vida, esperando que no se necesiten cobrar, pero a veces la desgracias llegan; así fue después del 11 de septiembre del 2001, cuando debido a los atentados en Nueva York y otras partes de USA, muchas personas perecieron, y que para poder indemnizar se tuvo que responder, ¿cuánto vale la vida? . La película, emitida ya en Sundance 2020, acaba de ser lanzada en Netflix, teniendo como directora a Sara Colangelo. Es una historia basada en eventos reales, alrededor del abogado Kenneth Feinberg.

The film, already broadcasted at Sundance 2020, has just been released on Netflix, having Sara Colangelo as director. It is a story based on real events, around the lawyer Kenneth Feinberg.

Kenneth Feinberg es un abogado de una firma que comanda junto a su socia Camille Biros. Luego de que ocurran los eventos del 11 de septiembre, su firma es contactada para liderar el proceso de indemnización del gobierno a las víctimas de la tragedia. Para ello usarán mecanismo rutinarios, como patrimonios y edades de los afectados; sin embargo lo que no esperaban encontrar, es la diversidad de dramas familiares, una oposición crítica de un viudo y la posible imposibilidad de llegar a completar los objetivos en una fecha límite.

Kenneth Feinberg is a lawyer in a firm he commands together with his partner Camille Biros. After the events of September 11, his firm is asked to lead the government's compensation process for the victims of the tragedy. However, what they did not expect to find is the diversity of family dramas, a critical opposition from a widower and the possible impossibility of completing the objectives by a deadline.

La historia busca contrastar lo que a veces se busca mediante leyes y tablas de números, con las dramas reales de las personas, y que una visión netamente técnica es limitada, siendo necesario desarrollar la empatía e involucrarse un paso más con las personas al frente tuyo. El protagonista, su socia y colaboradores, tratarán de solventar este complicado problema.

The story seeks to contrast what is sometimes sought through laws and tables of numbers, with the real dramas of people, and that a purely technical vision is limited, being necessary to develop empathy and get involved a step further with the people in front of you. The protagonist, his partner and collaborators will try to solve this complicated problem.

El actor principal es Michael Keaton, quien desarrolla un excelente papel como Kenneth, y es al que veremos principalmente en las casi 2 horas del filme. Otro actor que resaltó es Charles Wolf, quien interpreta al viudo Stanley Tucci, y es el que genera la mirada crítica a todo el proceso de indemnización.

The main actor is Michael Keaton, who develops an excellent role as Kenneth, and is the one we will see mainly in the almost 2 hours of the film. Another actor who stood out is Charles Wolf, who plays the widower Stanley Tucci, and is the one who generates the critical look at the whole compensation process.

En otros aspectos técnicos no hay mucho por resaltar, al ser una historia en oficinas. El punto malo del filme, es que no debemos esperar muchas sorpresas o giros, ya que narra sucesos verídicos, siendo predecible.

In other technical aspects there is not much to highlight, being a story in offices. The bad point of the film is that we should not expect many surprises or twists, since it narrates true events, being predictable.

Te la recomiendo si te interesa una nueva mirada a las consecuencias que generó el 11 de septiembre; y como, de alguna manera, se intenta determinar cuánto vale la vida de una persona.

I recommend it if you are interested in a new look at the consequences of 9/11 and how, in a way, it tries to determine how much a person's life is worth.
