Tras leer el inicio de la saga de Geralt de Rivia, y mientras busco los libros que me faltan, he decidido comenzar otra saga de fantasía. El nombre del viento es el primer libro de tres, que pertenecen a la saga de Crónica del Asesino de Reyes. Este primer libro salió en el 2011, del autor Patrick Rothfuss.

After reading the beginning of the Geralt of Rivia saga, and while I am looking for the books I am missing, I have decided to start another fantasy saga. The Name of the Wind is the first book of three, which belong to the Chronicle of the Kingslayer saga. This first book came out in 2011, by author Patrick Rothfuss.

Sinopsis: Kvothe es un hombre de mediana edad que regenta una posada, en compañía de su discípulo Bast. Un día llega una persona que se autodenomina el Cronista; el tras presentarse y revelar que conoce algo del pasado de Kvothe, acuerdan en escribir la biografía de Kvothe. Con ello, comenzaremos a conocer desde su tierna infancia, la vida de un personaje que tuvo una vida llena de eventos increíbles y que su fama llegó a niveles inesperados.

Synopsis: Kvothe is a middle-aged man who runs an inn, in the company of his disciple Bast. One day a person who calls himself the Chronicler arrives; after introducing himself and revealing that he knows something of Kvothe's past, they agree to write Kvothe's biography. With this, we will begin to know from his tender childhood, the life of a character who had a life full of incredible events and whose fame reached unexpected levels.

Se supone que los 3 libros planeados de esta saga, han salido 2 y este año se supone sale el último, narran un día de tres en la posada, donde Kvothe irá contando su increíble historia. El desde pequeño mostraba un gran genio, con una gran capacidad de memoria y obtener habilidades, pero es un encuentro con un mentor, que le hace interesarse por el mundo arcano; a su vez, es un evento trágico en el que comienza su verdadera historia, donde Kvothe tendrá que valerse por sí mismo, para sobrevivir y conseguir diversos objetivos.

It is assumed that the 3 planned books of this saga, 2 have come out and this year the last one is supposed to come out, narrate a day of three in the inn, where Kvothe will tell his incredible story. Since he was a child he showed a great genius, with a great capacity of memory and to obtain abilities, but it is an encounter with a mentor, who makes him interested in the arcane world; at the same time, it is a tragic event in which his true story begins, where Kvothe will have to fend for himself, to survive and achieve various objectives.

Es un mundo de fantasía que incluye magia arcana, dragones, reyes, y una universidad que rememora un tanto a Hogwarts. En el transcurso de los capítulos iremos conociendo las reglas de este mundo, desde cómo se maneja su sociedad, la tecnología actual y sus propias leyendas. El personaje irá conociendo amistades, aliados, amores y enemigos; sin embargo, creo que, salvo unos pocos personajes, no acaban sintiéndose relevantes, les falta desarrollo.

It is a fantasy world that includes arcane magic, dragons, kings, and a university somewhat reminiscent of Hogwarts. In the course of the chapters we will learn the rules of this world, from how their society is managed, the current technology and their own legends. The character will get to know friendships, allies, loves and enemies; however, I think that, except for a few characters, they don't end up feeling relevant, they lack development.

Hay mucha aventura, cierto romance y variados misterios que el personaje tratará de develar, uno de ellos es realmente molesto, al no poder acceder a una biblioteca. La mezcla es interesante.

There is a lot of adventure, some romance and various mysteries that the character will try to unveil, one of them is really annoying, not being able to access a library. The mix is interesting.

Al ser capítulos cortos, el ritmo de lectura es bueno, y es fácil quedarse enganchado. También hay uno que otro giro, para aderezar la trama. En otros temas, es divertido ver el uso que le hacen a los relatos y a las canciones, hay varias canciones en la historia, la música llega a tener su importancia.

Being short chapters, the reading pace is good, and it is easy to get hooked. There is also the odd twist or two, to spice up the plot. On other topics, it's fun to see the use of stories and songs, there are several songs in the story, and the music comes into its own.

Aunque el libro es principalmente la crónica de Kvothe en un día, también suceden eventos en el presente de la historia, en especial en el tramo final, que nos deja con posibles pistas de lo que veremos en los sucesivos libros.

Although the book is mainly the chronicle of Kvothe in one day, events also happen in the present of the story, especially in the final stretch, which leaves us with possible clues of what we will see in the successive books.

Me ha gustado este primer libro, aunque espero un mayor desarrollo en otros personajes aparte del protagonista para las siguientes 2 partes. Recomendable.

I liked this first book, although I expect more development in characters other than the protagonist for the next 2 parts. Recommended.
