Hay algún tipo de películas que tiene influencia teatral o se basan en una obra teatral, como es la del título de hoy. Eso implica que hay pocos escenarios, y que la actuación cobra mayor peso para la historia. Estrenada el 2022, siendo su director Darren Aronofsky. Basada en la obra The Whale de Samuel D. Hunter.

Sinopsis: Charlie es un profesor de inglés, que debido a su obesidad severa se mantiene anclado a un sillón de su casa. Ya temiendo un futuro funesto, se sorprende cuando su hija, que no veía debido a un divorcio, comienza a visitarlo.

Como mencioné al comienzo al estar basado en una obra de teatro, hay pocos escenarios, en este caso, la mayoría de lo que se ve ocurre en un solo gran espacio; a su vez, la actuación es bastante relevante para la dramatización de esta historia. Al punto, que el papel desarrollado por Brendan Fraser como Charlie, le ha permitido ganar el Oscar este año.

As I mentioned at the beginning, being based on a play, there are few scenarios, in this case, most of what is seen occurs in a single large space; in turn, the acting is quite relevant to the dramatization of this story. To the point, that the role developed by Brendan Fraser as Charlie, has allowed him to win the Oscar this year.

La historia muestra el encuentro de un padre que en sus últimos días de vida tendrá un reencuentro con una hija con la que había perdido contacto por su divorcio. Será un encuentro lleno de ira, insultos, drama, arrepentimientos, etc; todas esas secuencias son lo mejor del título. Por otro lado, veremos a otros personajes que tratarán de salvar a Charlie de su obesidad, mientras vamos conociendo su pasado y como llego a ese estado. Es una historia que no solo muestra lo que ven los espectadores sino lo que no pueden ver. Generando bastante reflexión.

The story shows the encounter of a father who in his last days of life will have a reunion with a daughter with whom he had lost contact due to his divorce. It will be a meeting full of anger, insults, drama, regrets, etc; all these sequences are the best of the title. On the other hand, we will see other characters who will try to save Charlie from his obesity, while we learn about his past and how he got to that state. It is a story that not only shows what the viewers see but also what they cannot see. It generates a lot of reflection.

En temas de producción creo que tiene un trabajo aceptable, el trabajo de luces es interesante. También el escenario habla mucho del personaje principal, dejando detalles para ver. Como ya mencione, la actuación es excelente, el trabajo de Sadie Sink como la hija Ellie, es memorable.

In terms of production I think it has an acceptable job, the lighting work is interesting. Also the scenery speaks a lot about the main character, leaving details to see. As I already mentioned, the acting is excellent, Sadie Sink's work as the daughter Ellie, is memorable.

Me ha gustado bastante esta historia, cargado con bastante drama, y que si logras empatizar con la situación puede dejarte con muchas lágrimas. Recomendable. Algo me dice que este título se volverá un clásico en el tiempo, y espero se animen a hacer más títulos con influencia teatral.

I quite enjoyed this story, loaded with plenty of drama, and if you can empathize with the situation it can leave you with many tears. Recommended. Something tells me that this title will become a classic in time, and I hope they are encouraged to make more titles with theatrical influence.
