Hundreds arrested at anti-mobilisation protests in Russia - Another Violation of Human Rights

The entire world is devastated by the televised announcement of the Russian President Vladimir Putin today as he declared his intentions to mobilize more military personnel for the ongoing war in Ukraine.

This has led to various statements from the US, UK and many other countries of the world. The Ukrainian military said they're not afraid of his mobilization strategy and they noted that they're prepared for it.

In Russia, an anti-mobilization group came up with an idea to protest against Putin's mobilization decree and various cities were agreed for the protests to commence.

The Moscow and St. Petersburg were major cities the protest will take. The organizers warned citizens that their cities weren't part of the protests to move to a central point in their state.

Demonstrators have taken to the streets in several cities in Russia to protest against President Vladimir Putin’s decree to partially mobilise reservists in the country’s armed forces.

With demonstrators in Moscow chanting no more war! Life to our children, while their counterparts in St. Petersburg chanting no mobilization. It should be noted that about 1300 protesters have been arrested in Moscow and St Petersburg during the rally.

To me this is a violation of the fundamental human right of citizens who were engaging in peaceful protests in Russia. I also believe that most of the arrested protesters would be tortured as well as conscripted into the military of nothing is being done to aid their release on time.

Arresting peaceful protesters at this point is the highest form of lunacy and should be condemned in it's entirety.

Mobilizing these young Russians who are not military personnel prior to the war simply shows that Putin is sending them to suicidal mission in Ukraine. Already, the Russian military have lost captured cities to the Ukrainian military few days ago most especially kharkov region.

“Everyone is scared. I am for peace and I don’t want to have to shoot. But coming out now is very dangerous, otherwise, there would be many more people,” said protester Vasily Fedorov, a student wearing a pacifist symbol on his chest.
Despite Russia’s harsh laws against criticising the military and the war, protests took place across the country. More than 1,300 Russians were arrested in anti-war demonstrations in 38 cities, according to the independent Russian human rights group OVD-Info.Source

According to Vasily Fedorov, every protester out there is scared and the rally itself is dangerous but the fact still remains that someone must speak against the mobilization of innocent citizens who do not want to lose their lives fighting for Putin.

The Russian news agency Interfax quoted the interior ministry as saying it had quashed attempts to “organise unauthorised gatherings”.Source

All demonstrations have been halted and those arrested have been taken to the Police station pending investigations and prosecution.
