A trial has been scheduled for the Oath Keepers and it's said to last for about 6-7 weeks period. Should we say this is a welcomed development or wait for another time to justify their actions.

On Monday, Stewart Rhodes, the founder of Oath Keepers and four others have been scheduled to face trials for organizing an armed rebellion during the power transition on January 6, 2012 and they've been accused of deliberately attempting to stop the transfer of Presidential power from Donald Trump to Joe Biden.

In the opening remarks of the assistant US Attorney Jeffrey Nestler on the long awaited case, said, that the conspiracy amongst Stewart Rhodes and his associates is a clear indication of plan to destroy the US democracy and the goal of stopping the transition of power from Donald Trump to Joe Biden is an attempt to shatter a bedrock of American democracy.

Rhodes and his co-defendants Kelly Meggs, Thomas Caldwell, Jessica Watkins and Kenneth Harrelson are accused of plotting to forcefully prevent Congress from certifying Biden’s 2020 election victory in a failed bid to keep then-President Trump, a Republican, in power.Source

During the attack on the US Capitol building, Trump's allies wanted to keep former Us President Donald Trump in office, who claimed that the election was hijacked by a wide fraud and in the process of the US Capitol riot, five people were killed and about 140 police officers injured.

The five on trial face numerous felony charges, including seditious conspiracy – a Civil War-era statute that is rarely prosecuted and carries a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.Source

The members of Oath Keepers on January 6, didn't go to the Capitol to help or defend, they were on a mission to attack, which is a felonious act and for them to try to project a civil war in peace America was an attempt to breach the existing peace in the US.

Prior to this trial, several investigations have been carried out and one of the most significant evidence against the Oath Keepers is the conspiracy amongst them both in meetings on the encrypted apps like Signal and in person.

An attorney for Rhodes, though, argued that prosecutors built their case on cherry-picked evidence like messages and videos and that the Oath Keepers were not involved with violence during the riot.
“The story the government is trying to tell you today is completely wrong,” said Rhodes’s lawyer, Phillip Linder. “Even though it may look inflammatory, they did nothing illegal.”Source

It isn't time for me to say anything concerning the trial until the trial is concluded. The trial is set to span for about 6 to 7 weeks.
