A proud profession for a living...

20240315_094917.jpg

The year I was introduced to a writing platform, I never found writing a difficult task because it was what I had been doing for fun. I have loved teaching right from time and it made me enjoy writing. I would jot down lots of information, stories and lyrics of songs; sometimes I write lyrics based on human activities and I never stopped humming words together in my mind as I would smile in the end knowing how I have come to enjoy doing things like this. I've never been tired of writing and it is one reason I wasn't lazy about writing lesson notes as a class teacher back then.

Before I began my blogging journey, I had seen writing as an easy thing because of what I loved doing, penning down ideas that stray through my mind, through daily experiences and happenings around me. All of these were because of my love for teaching.

I am proud of what I do presently — teaching. I love to share my ideas and knowledge of what I have learnt anywhere to others and it makes me happy to give something valuable to others. Teaching is a wonderful profession that I have come to enjoy doing and when other people complain of the "lesson notes" aspect of it, it's always an exciting thing to do anytime and I don't get tired of it. Teaching is like being guided by a tour guide, showing you around everywhere and explaining each thing you come across, helping you to learn new things and to understand the world better.

I have taught in private schools mostly and it has been an amazing experience. Waking up as early as possible to be in school before 7 am, marking attendance, writing diaries and lesson notes, teaching pupils/students, conducting tests and exams, etc are fun to me. Though the stress is always much when it comes to marking scripts and recording their grades while preparing their report cards, it is still something I enjoy doing. Teaching is fun but it becomes exciting when holidays are approaching because, to say the truth, it's not that easy waking up each day and getting to school before 7 am.

A teacher is a great leader. A teacher is someone who helps you with questions, shares knowledge and encourages you to be your best, grow smartly and become successful in what you do. A teacher is like a second parent who guides and directs your path in the right way so you don't miss the road. He or she sacrifices to make sure you are taught in the best way.

I am currently serving as a teacher in a public school through the one-year program called Nysc (National Youth Service Corps) Like other corpers who got sad about being posted to a school, I became excited to accept the role and be the best I could so I can help the student's lives. I have never taught in a public secondary school before but I took this as a challenge at first, not until after a few weeks, I got accustomed to the system, using my knowledge of what teaching is and how a teacher should educate and this method has helped to become easier for me.

Teaching in private schools is different from that of public schools. Most people believe that teachers get to enjoy more in government school than in private because you only take a subject, while being a teacher in private schools means taking all subjects except you are a part-time teacher who only comes to teach a particular subject for 2-3 hours and that is it. When I was teaching in a private school some years back, I had this woman who was taking both computer and Yoruba languages and would come over twice a week for a few hours and receive a substantial amount of money, the same thing she does in other schools.

Right now, the students are writing exams and I am still thinking of how and where to begin marking over 100 scripts and to record them. Trust me, this is the part that becomes more tedious for me and when I finally get all done, it would be as if a heavy rock was lifted off my head, hehehe.

Even though teachers are not being paid well or appreciated the way they are ought to, teaching is still one profession I wouldn't want to derail from because it has helped shape my mindset and understanding about things I never knew before but now do. When I was given English Language as a subject to teach, I was afraid because even though I can speak English, I still do not see myself taking the subject to teach, especially with some topics I find so hard to explain. The HOD of the subject encouraged me and said it's all about getting yourself prepared for each class before going to educate them and I knew at that moment that no subject is hard, it only takes enough preparation to deliver the best.

The more I teach new topics, the more I learn and widen my knowledge. Teaching is one way to broaden one's horizon as it takes continuous learning to be the best. A teacher doesn't stop learning except you want to embarrass yourself and, because of this, I keep exploring more new things and helping myself to grow.

Teaching is something important in society as it helps mould lives and help individuals to learn and grow. Without a teacher, there can never be other professions out there. A teacher, whether in the formal or informal settings would have to teach and train an individual into becoming someone successful in their career. Teachers impact lives and they are role models which makes it more fun because it helps one to be focused and be mindful of how they behave because of the realisation that people are watching and they are being pointed at anywhere.

I don't want to change this profession for another. Even if I would need to take up another job, this would still be my number one job while the other would be my second job just like how I am doing with blogging. Do you know blogging is likened to teaching too? Because what you post out here is like teaching your readers and those who would want to practicalise some aspect would do. So, a blogger is also a teacher and the role of teaching in society cannot be underestimated.

I love teaching job!!!
I love being a teacher!!!
I am proud of the profession!!!

All images belong to me

Thanks for your time reading. Looking forward to your interaction.

That's great! Teachers are probably one of the most selfless jobs to teach and lead the future. Usually not the best paid profession and most spend out of their own pocket for materials for extra stuff :(. Are you the teacher that gives a lot of homework? :P

Yes, teaching is a great job and a selfless one especially with people who find it more like a thing to do, not minding how much they are being paid.
No, I don't give lots of homework but I do for each lesson I take them since it's only a subject I teach.

Most Corp members end up as class room teachers not minding what they studied in school and most of them see it as a punishment. Just lovely that you enjoy what you do it's actually nailed to the fact that you have be enjoying the process all these while.

I do wish you well

Corper weeeee
Waaaa
For real, I did teach once and I enjoyed it, but I don’t think I want to teach again.
Also I also think people that work in government school especially corpers enjoy more than people in private school

Teaching is a job without which humanity would be backwards. The progress which we have made over the years are all down to the effort of teachers at various levels.
I love teaching too, I may end up in the teaching segment of my profession later on.
Salute to all teachers, the job mostly goes unnoticed but regardless, very very important.

It is sad to see that teachers are underrated in this country. I worked as a teacher shortly after my graduation from secondary school, what I can say is that, they are not valued at all.

With all the challenges of the profession, I will still be inclined to it any time any day. The wealth of information and knowledge at my Becky and call is amazing that some kids think I am an encyclopedia hahaha.

Teaching is a lovely profession.

Teaching is actually very fun to venture into regardless of the stress it brings. And I understand your take on this.

The profession is one of the most important professions in the human race because it helps broaden your knowledge on things you know and things you never knew existed. So, well done!

I always give accolades to teachers because that shout, especially when teaching younger ones, strains the head.

Even at a higher level, teaching 'stubborn' adults is not easy

Yes oo. You get it. There are some stubborn students where I teach currently and they all the time frustrate me but would just overlook but would still do my part.
