An Invitation was Honoured

20240310_081400.jpg

The day started as soon as I opened my eyes to the bright morning which shone right through my room, I realised it was another week and a Sunday dedicated to worship in the presence of the Lord for a few hours. The first thing I did was to appreciate God for another life and a chance to continue living a good life. Immediately, I remembered I'd promised someone last week that I would attend her church and I do not want to disappoint her. She is a staff and like a mother at my PPA and she has kept reminding me to attend one of their church programmes and she assured me I would enjoy it.

I took my phone to check the day's devotion, swiped into WhatsApp to check if there were any unreplied messages of which I got one from this woman who asked if I would be coming, I replied with a smiling emoji that I would be coming. I said a little prayer, and then removed my nighties and wrapped myself with a towel to dash into the bathroom. As I stepped out of my room, they brought the light. I remembered that they had bought a new transformer after many years of being in total darkness where the ones who could afford solars and generators to power their homes with light did. I was excited because this town would start having light now. I quickly plugged in my phone which was already at 12%, although I was already using my power bank to charge.

Going to this new church I was invited to would make me not attend the one opposite my apartment which is the church for the oldies. Since I got to this church, I have been wanting a youth church where the vibe would be felt. I looked for a Redeemed Christian Church of God around the area but couldn't find one and because the pastor in charge of this church gave me an apartment in the pastorate building, I decided to attend theirs but was still hoping I get to see a church that I preferred especially a youth one.

At exactly 8:20 am, I left the home as I was told service starts by 8 and ends by 10 am. I waited 20 minutes more to take pictures and do some shots on Snapchat, and that took time. I got to the church so quickly as I called for a bike that took me there. Oh my God, I saw the vibe and flow in the programme. The church comprises youth members who are polytechnic students and corpers including some parents too. I felt the vibe and instantly, I knew this was the kind of atmosphere I wanted. The service ended at 10:30 am and that was because they had to attend to the newcomers which I was among. The church's name is Living Faith which is also called Winners founded by Bishop David Oyedepo. That would be my first time attending winners.

Till I got home yesterday, I was feeling so excited and started thinking of how to start attending the church. A paper was given to me while in the church to fill in. There was a part where I was asked if I would be a member of the church, it's either I picked Yes or No, but I left it blank intentionally as I haven't decided yet. I would want to be attending this church but not being a full member, and at the same time, I do not want to leave the first church I have been attending where I was given an apartment, even though I paid for it. I was stuck in between but before the end of the day, I got my decision which is to divide the Sundays into two in a month; two Sundays for the first church and the other two for the new one because I want to feel the vibe than to be among the oldies — I believe you know the difference.

I prepared a nice meal, ate and slept off. Actually, I was watching a movie on Netflix when I slept off. I woke up to the sound of those hosting political meetings behind the house which they do every Sunday afternoon. A call came in from a friend I met in the town who promised to bring me chinchin which she is selling and that I needed to have a taste of it so I could be patronising her. Yes, I tasted the snack and discovered how sweet it was. I bought some worth #250 from her and promised to start patronising her.

Towards the evening, I started feeling uneasy and my mood changed immediately but I tried not to feel unmotivated and decided to play some music from my phone and my mood got lit up. I guess it was the extreme heat that has gotten into me and made it like everything that evening was just like me forcing things to happen. I took a short nap and started engaging on Hive with my system which has been fully charged.

In the end, the day was amazing and that was because I honoured the invitation and got wowed to see the kind of church I wanted — a youth and vibrant church where I could get to meet friends and also socialise. I would want the same energy I had yesterday to continue this week and hopefully learn more things along the line. Someone has promised to take me around the polytechnic in the town so I can know some places. I am looking forward to that.

Both images belongs to me

Thanks for your time reading. Looking forward to your interaction.

Your first time attending Winners.
Welcome! 🎉

It seems you're in a typical deep village with many oldies churches.
I served in a similar place but was lucky to meet my church in the community as the only branch in the LGA.

You had a nice Sunday 👌

Hey babe, please start attending the youth church biko...three times per month, once in the oldies church 😌😌...I know you loved the experience you had so why not go to where you will likely mingle with your fellow youth and be happy. Overall you had a great day but wait oo, did you finish that bowl of food all alone? Tell me no because it's too much 🤦
Haha 😂

Nice to hear how you spend your sunday my friend. Good you divided to spend the sundays between oldies and the youngsters so that you get to know more about the two generations.

Exactly. I love the youth church now and I will try to do both so I don't neglect the first one completely. Thank you, Shamis.

I also love going to a church where young youths who love God are in mass, it challenges one to take God seriously. Living faith are always doing well, most of their branches which I attended always deliver🙃🥰🔥

I think you decision for sharing weeks to visit both of the churches is wise, your landlord might not be happy if you leave his church but on the other hand, I am checking your spiritual growth. Well, it is well, just do as you said, for now for peace to reign hehhe.

Congratulations for the transformer, it's not easy. 🎉🎉🎉

Yes. I love youth who are more vibrant and ready to serve God willingly. I will definitely be worshipping in both now and not leave one for the other completely. Thank you, Emreal.

Excellent description of a Sunday day where you fulfilled your church commitments and met new people. I see that you captivated many with your cooking, I am from Latin America and I don't know much about these dishes, but they look very tasty. Greetings from Venezuela.

Yes, the meal is a popular one in my tribe — Yoruba and we are common to eating it. It is also what makes us unique and easily identified with. It is called Amala which is made from floured yam. Then the soup is called Jute Marrow leaves.
