HOW TO PREPARE A MEAL CALLED SUCCOTASH

Hi everyone! Why do we eat good food? It's for us to have good health and help live a happy life. Without good food, it causes disease into our body. One of the many prescriptions a doctor would give to you is to eat good food - I mean a balanced diet.

A balanced diet consists of all the six classes of food which are;
Carbohydrates
Proteins
Vitamins
Mineral Salt
Fats and Oil
Water.

Water is also included because it is very important to live an healthy life.

So, with me here is a nourishing food that I love to eat most times because it is one of my favorites especially eating it while it is warm.

I can vividly tell you that this combination is a balanced diet and I am always careful of the combinations in my food all the time.

This meal is called Beans and Corn (Maize) I was made to know its English name is "SUCCOTASH".

I was baffled and I decided to check the Dictionary and I couldn't but agree with it. Here is the meaning;

A stew made from kernels of corn, lima beans, tomatoes and sometimes peppers.
From the English Dictionary

Now you can see all of these items are found in this delicious meal. So anytime you are eating this and someone possibly ask you what are you eating? Just tell them it's Succotash 😉

Okay, let's get down to the recipes and how to prepare it.

*Recipes are;

  • Corn (either cooked or uncooked)
  • Beans
  • Onions
  • Palm oil
  • Salt and Maggi to taste
  • Crayfish
  • Water
  • Red Pepper

Steps to prepare Succotash

  • Peel the corn and wash thrice to remove dirt

  • Put inside the pot and place on the gas to keep boiling till it is soft

  • Pick the beans and wash thrice or more as you want

  • Then add to the corn on the gas

  • Slice some onions into it

  • Cover to boil till it is soft

(This is still boiling and I haven't added any ingredients to it)

  • When it is soft, add your pepper, seasoning to taste, crayfish, other ingredients you would want to add. Some do make use of scent leaves or vegetables to taste. You can add (Optional)

  • Add some Palm oil into it

  • Cover to steam for 10-15 mins and your delicious food is ready.

I finally know the English name of this amazing food - Succotash, 🙄 can you pronounce it? Because it's like what I'm pronouncing is not the same with what I'm seeing o 🤣🤣

I got to know about this food from a friend in my neighborhood some years back and that was the last time I tasted it, it was really delicious and I didn't ask how it was prepared.

Now I've gotten the full details about the food, I'll surely prepare it for myself someday or maybe you'll come and help me sha 😌 since I will be going for vacation 😉🤣

Yeah it sure looks easy to prepare and this is corn season so getting corn won't be difficult.I'll find a way to prepare it before the end of corn season. Thanks for the recipe 😉

Ah, one of my favourites meals!
