I quit the worst teaching Job.

pexels-photo-6382633.jpeg

This is another experience I can never forget in my life because it was the worst experience for me being the first time I took a teaching job where I knew I would be receiving a salary. One sad thing about private schools is that they will use and drain you to the extent that you start thinking about your life if you truly deserved this treatment. How much do they pay? They pay less and it's meagre that can't even sustain you throughout the month before expecting another salary.

Thank God I quit at that moment even though my aunt begged me to return, I made up my mind not to go back to my vomit because it didn't pay me at all. It was obvious the woman wasn't considerate at all and was a selfish being who would take advantage of such a situation.

I just finished my academics at the college of education in the year 2015 and I went to stay with my Aunt. It was around August and I got a teaching job after submitting my CV to different schools. Thank God, this school was just a stone's throw from my house and there was nothing like transport fare. This headmistress needed another teacher and I helped her contact my friend we both graduated together.

My friend's house was very far and she would be spending over #300 ($0.42) each day and we were being paid #12000 ($17.1) then. It was still okay for me since my house is not far but I was pitying my friend.

Egbonn.png

The first day we started work, we only met just a staff and we started noticing what happened because the other classes weren't having any teachers. She was the only staff where she exposed a secret to us because according to her, she doesn't want us to go through the stress. After all, she was leaving that same week and was finding a way and she wasn't going until she is paid her salary (she was owed four months' salary) and the headmistress refused to pay her.

The only opportunity this staff got was when a parent came to pay her two children's school fees and she absconded with the money. Later the following day, she called the headmistress that a parent had come over to pay but she used it as her salary she wasn't paid for four months. The woman begged her to resume because there was no teacher on ground but she refused.

It was I and my friend remaining and the workload was on us. We both were taking three classes each and there was no time to rest. Even if we want to take a rest during the break, this woman will find something for us to do just to keep us busy.

The first month ended and we weren't paid our salaries. We remembered what the staff told us and we decided to endure and be patient with her. After three months of staying without being paid, a secret was leaked. The owner of the school is a professor at the University of Ibadan and would have sent the salaries of all teachers before the end of the month to her but she would use it to pay for her degree education then.

When we got to know about this, we both decided to come to school that day but we won't be teaching any classes so that she would know we meant business. We were ready to tell her to pay us that day or else, we would leave the school but that doesn't mean we won't be collecting our salaries because to us, she was cheating us. The professor never knew about this because no one had his contact to explain things to him.

We got to school very early in the morning, did an assembly for the children and they all marched inside. I and my friend stayed outside because we were ready to confront her and collect our salaries. The woman was so inconsiderate and we were surprised at such behaviour from her. We needed money, that was why we went for job hunting and got one. Don't we have plans of furthering too?

This woman saw us outside and told us to go inside and start teaching. No one answered her. We already planned to quit even if she paid the money because we can't continue with a selfish headmistress.

To cut the long story short because the drama we acted for her that day, she never believed it, we confronted her and made her know her tactics of using our salary to further her academics while she was starving and cheating us. She tried to defend herself but she couldn't.

We didn't teach any children until she paid all the money she was owing. She paid somehow and we saw it was complete. We managed to teach the kids for that day and never resumed the following day. She knew where I was living and came to meet my aunt. Thank God I had explained all to her. Though she begged me to pity her because she told my aunt there was no teacher again. That didn't move me at all and I quit the job that day.

Thank God I quit the job and I was able to find a better teaching job in another state. Though I wasn't paid much, I enjoyed my moment there because the woman was always constant in paying our salaries and would even give us tips at the end of each month.

When I was leaving the school after gaining admission in the year 2019 because I spent three years there, the woman felt sad because I was leaving but she had no choice. I got a lot of gifts from her. We still talk to date.

Thanks for your time on my blog.

Yes, that was a long time ago but I met a beautiful boss who never withheld our salaries but paid on time. I hope the government would because it´s been a long time since teachers are treated low including in public schools. Teachers are really trying.
Thanks so much for supporting me. I truly appreciate it 🙏🙏

Private schools are just the way you explained, they use their staffs more than they pay them.

This your story was not a pleasant one at all but that last part gave me goosebumps, I could feel every word you were saying because I've experienced something similar but then unlike you, I won't do a job for three months without salary and still stay in such a place.

The only reason that will make me work for a month with my salary is because I love what I'm doing and I know there are other passive benefits from what I'm doing which is even more than the Penny that I will be paid at the end of the month.

When I'm working for someone and I get to acquire more knowledge and connection, I don't care about the salary any more that is just the truth and I can even let go of you not paying me but then I will just stop when I find something better than that thing.

But staying in a place all in the name of working for someone and I hardly benefit anything and even the little salary which is a consolation prize I still don't get it, I will leave just like you, without looking at my left or right.

I'm so glad you stopped and also got your complete salary for the years you worked there and you were also privileged to find a better one, that made me feel joy deep down, hehe.

Hahaha, not a pleasant one at all. In fact, I would have stayed and not minded the salary not being paid because I get some little benefits but since I don´t and the woman isn´t entertaining at all. Moreso, she is selfish, I just can´t stay with such a boss. It really pissed me off and that was why I left the Job and thank God I found a better one than that.
Thank you dear Hope.

Yes I can relate with that, just like I said, when you compare what you benefit to what you loss then you make your decision based on that.

It was obvious that working there was not adding too much to you but then it's taking a lot from you. So stopping it was a must abeg, lolz.

You are very correct. So, when you know something isn't adding any benefits or merit to you, won't you leave such a job? Of course you would. I would too 😅
Thank you 😊

Na so e just be but sadly so many people don't can't do that because they feel there won't be another opportunity for them. But that's not me at all, I always believe that once one is gone another one will come and it would be even more better .

You're welcome ☺️

That is it. I don´t want a job where I will keep working and not be given a salary for months. Is it not the energy I will use to teach the kids? I need money to eat and survive too and wouldn´t allow a woman to cheat on me thereby furthering her own studies and depriving me of my right. At least she is earning her salary too.

Exactly, the fact that those kind of jobs just hold us down, keeps taking and taking and hardly gives anything in return is one of the reasons I don't like working for people instead I help, lolz. And that is why I keep appreciating hive a lot because it's just the perfect place for me.

Great. Hive is just the best because you can do whatever you like and in the end, you get paid for what you bring.

Yes, hive is a place where you can give your best in anyway you can and get something tangible in return. That is just so amazing and the fact that it also encourages you to tell others to come in is something that is just so cool.

Infact, take it easy, life is all about challenges, never give up, keep on moving, there's hope. Salaries work, it's not an easy task. Keep it up.

First of all, the owner of the school had no right to use the money intended for your salary for her personal purpose. At least 60% of the tuition paid by the parents should be for the salaries of the teachers.
What she did is, she had you working for the school so she could have the money to finance her studies. This is almost like stealing from you.

Maybe if you did not act, should would not have paid you until she finished her schooling.

Congrats on your new job. I guess that was the only choice for all of you

You are right. She has no right at all to use our salaries for her own personal stuff and this was more than stealing from us. Thank you for reading and dropping your comment.

Omo... Especially these employers that will pay you 10k, they will want to get 10 million naira worth of work out of you. They will use you hen, and then reap all the benefits. Very disheartening.
You made the right choice joor

Don´t mind them. They are just being selfish and aren´t considerate or pitiful at all. I was happy we left oo and she paid all our salaries. Thanks for stopping by.

Teaching is a job of patience, teachers are supposed to be enjoying the best payment ever but I wonder why the contrary Is what they always get.

Some people are just naturally selfish, how do you expect someone to keep working for you without payment? Like what will they eat? Haba that is pure wickedness o.
That woman that first left was funny, I know that it was painful what she was going through. But she should not have left with the money. That was bad.

This story reminded me of how I wanted quitting where I was teaching before too but I had to wait to be paid before I relate the matter to the woman if not my salary for enter one Chance.

I love the way you and your friend approached the matter, she thought she was smart hehe. There are some places that we just have to leave even if they are offering us full chicken every day. Why was she begging you to come back? So she could use you again? It is said you will never know the value of what you have until you loose it.

Thanks for sharing this with us ma.. much love from here💕💕💕💕💕🥰

This woman never valued us then and she thought she was smart but our eyes were opened then. Thank God we knew the truth then. Well, as for the lady, I wouldn´t blame her because she tried finding ways to leave but until she is paid and this woman wasn´t paying her and she needed money for her upkeep too. She had to use that opportunity.

Thanks for showing up, Emreal.
How has been your day?

you have met the evil and angel lol, that is so bad of her using other people's sweat to fund her own education, as if you people don't need money, this is why they said if one becomes too gentle, people will take us for granted, assuming you and your friend didn't para for her, she won;t have pay and keep postponing you

Exactly. We were gentle at first and she took advantage of that and took us for granted. Thank God we weren´t fools too because that was how she will continue to play on us until we talk. Some people are just mean.

Teaching jobs are the worst. Well, I know there are some good schools and good bosses out there, but you see those private schools, especially the developing ones they are trash.

Teachers are really trying! But some school owners are blind! Even when they know the pay is poor, they still treat the badly.

I’ve once worked as a teacher, but after not getting my salary for 3 months, I had to quit.

Yes, getting those good schools is rare. At least I got to teach in a good school with my boss being a nice woman after this experience. So, we just need to pray to teach in a good school and not the one we would not be paid on time.

I like the way you tell stories of past events. This was interesting to read. I wonder how some people can be so selfish and cold. What she did was terrible. In fact, she should have been charged for it.

She should seriously but no one was ready to report her and also, according to what people say, the professor is not always around as he used to travel out of the country. Thanks for the compliment.

Private schools and money. I don't know why you will be collecting huge money and still deprive your teachers of their salaries, this is so wrong. Am glad you fought for your right and left the school. What a stingy woman, am sure she would have ruin that school by now.

Some people possess an amazing gift as well as an amazing aura of wickedness. Like, as if they were wickedness truly manifest in flesh and blood. Like, they wear the perfume of wickedness and it smell so sweet in their nose.

Na waaaa ooo

Some people joke with the life of others, and they do it because they have the power and authority to do so.

This isnt a good experience, but i believe looking back at it you'd just laugh over it... but the woman no try at all shaaaaa

Dreempower pushed me here... sorry, I mean dreemport

Private schools and their wahala, can you imagine owing someone for four months. You tried enduring that much, mine was two months and the owner of the school delayed the salary until we were about resuming for the third term.

I told the other teachers I wasn't resuming and surprising 3 others didn't. The woman knew my mom so she told my mom about it but my mom wouldn't hide the truth

She asked if the woman could take such and told her that even if I want to return there, she wouldn't allow me.
