LOH COMMUNITY CONTEST #65: AN EMBARASSING MOMENT I WILL NEVER FORGET

What is your most embarrassing moment that you can't forget?

I will never forget this day, where it happened and how it went. This is the day I would say even if I forgot other embarassing moments, this would definitely remain in my brain for as long as I get old. Perhaps to tell the story to the young ones 😄😄

I was teaching in a private school and it was in December 2019 when it was the school's Christmas carol. My boss decided we make it fun and different from how we have been doing it in the school premises. She wants us to take the pupils on an excursion and after much deliberation, we chose a city mall in the city of Lagos, Ikeja to be precised.

We planned the day and we went in the school bus. When we got there, everywhere was looking beautiful right from the gate to entering the mall itself. We saw different things inside. We took some pictures, went to watch a movie in the cinema.

We went for shopping for the children where I saw a Chinese man who also came for shopping. I pleaded to take a picture with him which he accepted. I could have just uploaded the pictures we took on Facebook then at least I would get to have access to them today. Anyways, it was great for me to snap with a Chinese man that year.

After buying everything for them and also getting some things for the staff including myself. We saw an elevator. My boss wanted the pupils to experience being on an elevator but we weren't allowed saying children cannot use it except for adults.

My boss ordered us to take the elevator choosing me to lead first. I have never climbed one before and I do not know how it was being operated.

Other staff told me to climb it first as they would follow behind. My boss sat down watching us one by one. Actually she didn't want everyone to go leaving only the children behind. Someone must stay with them.

I took the front and just when I put a leg on the stairs instead of the two, the elevator started. While my other leg was still on the ground, I couldn't control myself anymore, I just fell down with so many people stopping to look at me. I couldn't raise my eyes up but I saw how funny it was to my boss and other colleagues including the people in the mall.

It was an embarrassing day to me but I was happy I wouldn't be making any mistake since I have the experience now. I have not taken one since then though.
