Something I inherited.

We all have inherited a particular thing from our lineage which we are continuing till today and may continue till the next and next generations to come. I was reading a few entries regarding this topic yesterday where some inherited wealth, debt, kingship etc. Seriously, inheriting debt is not something good at all because no one wishes to become poor but when a generation is born and innocently takes the next line in paying debts meant for their fathers a long time ago, it becomes a journey one would keep walking on unless they decide to break the chain.

I also inherited something from my lineage and till today, it still baffles me to know that we all are affected after observing each of us, from my dad to his siblings and now myself and my siblings are included.

What did I inherit?

It is the absence of hair on the eyebrows which is called "eyebrow hair loss" or "eyebrow alopecia". When I googled the cause of this, it is usually caused by various reasons including medical conditions such as alopecia areata, changes in the hormone, overplucking or when one goes through treatments like chemotherapy which is one to combat cancer. In my case, it is a genetic predisposition because my family members also are experiencing similar thing.

It never occurred to me that it was a genetic thing until I started receiving questions from people about why I like to scrap the hair on my eyebrow off when it can be used to shape when one draws their brows with an eye pencil, they never believed that I never owned one because that is how my eyebrows are without hair. It is always funny to them that I have hair all over my body including my private parts but didn't have it on my eyebrows which is strange to them. I have a long hair which I also inherited from my family but this particular one is found missing.

Many times, I find it hard to draw my eyebrows with a pencil when making up my face because the presence of hair would make it easier to be shaped than not having any hair on it, still I never stopped drawing one onto my eyebrows. I have searched on YouTube for different videos on how to grow one's eyebrows and practised some but when I saw nothing was happening, I left it alone. This made me ask my big sister one day if she has hair on hers too but told me no. I took my time to check everyone in the house when I travelled home for Christmas and noticed everyone was affected including my late grandmother and dad.

I asked my sister why it was so because no one in the house had one. She too was surprised when I told her about it, she only is aware of Mama's loss of hair on her eyebrows but not everyone. We later found out that our great-grandmother didn't have too. It was a funny thing because why would we not have hair on our eyebrows but have it in other parts of the body and they grow quickly? When we shave, before the next 2 weeks, everything grows back again.

This is something that will not happen artificially no matter what I use because it's a genetic condition which has affected everyone in my family but it doesn't take away our beauty because we still have a way of creating shapes with an eye pencil on our eyebrows to look good. It just makes it more of a prideful thing to me to be able to tell people when they ask why I cut my hair off but would happily tell them I don't even have it from the onset because it's genetic.

I missed writing this for the Day 3 Inleo initiative and decided to write it as I find it interesting to talk about my lineage and what I inherited which is also my pride. If you are looking to participate, you can jump on it now by clicking the link below for more instructions.

Oh, see me shaping my own while you don't even have any. That's life for you, we can't have everything not matter what.

Hahaha. I do envy people like you who have eyebrows but just as you said, we cannot have it all. Thanks for stopping by.

Life no balance truly. I do shave off mine sometimes because of excess and here is someone who doesn't have. Since hereditary, I don't think it's a thing to worry about.

Hehehe. Yes oo, what someone has and still dashing out or throwing away is something another person is praying for 😅
Life no balance indeed but we cannot have it all which is the fact. Thank you.

At times we really need to keep inheriting things massively and keep changing things as it ought to

It’s actually very funny how my eyebrows are naturally shaped the minute I get up from bed. I didn’t even think that there could be someone somewhere with loss of eyebrows..
Awww it’s good you know you’re still very beautiful…. It really has got nothing on you Princess 🤗

You are lucky oo. Your eyebrows get shaped when you wake up. Yes, I never thought someone would not have hair on his or her eyebrow but it happened to me. Lol
Thank you, Abenad.

Really, this is a kinda strange thing to me e.. imagine having hairs in other parts of your body but not on eye brows..I am just noticing it as I read now.. checking ur pictures and ur sister. What a heritage.. and funny enough, no artificial effort can salvage the situation

I have heard that some people are without eyebrows hair, but I never really pay attention to them. You still look very beautiful even without the hair.

It makes it less stressful for you to have to shave all the time, sometimes I get tired of mine lol

Wow! I'm just knowing about this, I had a schoolmate who had the same issue, and I've always wondered why she shaves all her eye brows only to draw them back, now I know better.

We all have that really unique feature and it is evident that this is yours. Maybe if I see a lady that looks like Princess with no eyebrows, I'll just know that it's your relative. 😄
