The Month of March — Like A Dream!

A beautiful month, the month of March. It was amazing and all I could do was to look back and be grateful to God. The month of March started like any other month where I knelt to commit the whole 31 days into the hand of God. This is one thing I always do once a new month begins – new hopes, new inspirations and motivation, though there are always days when we feel demotivated and life treats us in the wrong way, still, we should be grateful.

The month began with me getting ready for the students' examination and before that time, my elder sis called to share the good news that her visa had been granted. She has been on this since the year 2018 and the way it happened was like a miracle, that it took my sister to enter the plane to Germany while still in disbelief, she was still thinking it was a dream. She got a scholarship to study for her Masters in Germany, only the tuition is free which is so much an exorbitant fee for two years while she hustles to pay her rent.

Before her leaving, she had made plans to travel home to share the news with other family members and she wanted me to be there too. She'd expected me to see her off to the airport since I couldn't make it when my younger sister was leaving for the U.S last year December. I checked my calendar and saw how lucky and gracious God had been because of the date we picked to travel home, I was done with the students' examinations, marked their scripts and recorded their grades. I made sure to be fast with that so that when I needed to take permission, there wouldn't be any excuse not to leave. I was given a week off from school and I got prepared to travel on the 23rd of March to Ilorin which is like 3 hours journey from where I stay.

I travelled to Ilorin on the 23rd, then the following Monday, I travelled to Lagos city to meet my sister who had already travelled to the East (Delta state) to inform one of our aunts too, because you know how family is sometimes. They may get angry if you don't tell them what's going on with you and that could be a long time of resentment towards you until they decide to forgive you wholeheartedly. My sister had to risk her life through the journey to the East especially with how bad and unsafe everywhere is. To God be the glory, she travelled and went back to Lagos where I went to meet her.

She had already packed everything and along the line, she was scared that most of her luggage would be rejected at the immigration centre but fortunately, her loads were weighed and met the exact kilograms and there was no issue. She was so happy that none of her stuff was dropped back because she took many things which would sustain her as a student for the main time before she gets a part-time job over there.

After seeing my sister off, I thought I would cry but I didn't because I already saw the day coming. Though I am going to miss them, my siblings especially when I travel for Christmas and not seeing them around me. Right now, I am the one the family would start calling whenever they needed something because, to my other younger siblings, I am their mother. I travelled back to my base on the 28th when my sister left on the 27th as her school would be resuming after the Easter break.

For the Easter celebration, I didn't do much on that day. After the end of the service in Church, I bought some fruit juices for those I knew and did the rest in my room.

The month of March came as a blessing to my elder sister and still looks like a dream to her. I also had a nice trip back to my base with no issues on the road. God has been faithful. Because of this, I have gone to complete the rest of my registration on my passport too as I believe someday, I will be travelling out to study for my Masters just like my siblings of which it is their goal to see me overseas too, perhaps for my education or on a visit because I don't see these ones coming back to Nigeria anytime soon.

My hope for the future is to see my siblings excelling and doing well. Hoping for the best for myself too especially having my own family and settling down and living comfortably.

March was nice and I am grateful it came with a lot of goodies and good news. I remembered when you broke the good news to me too. I was so happy 😁 deep down I couldn’t express it all. That has been a long time trying. But Glory be to God. It ended with Grace.

This is the kind of post that makes one smile from ear to ear...It's good that you've gone to complete your registration, there is nothing God cannot do.

It's like a dream indeed, that is a very rare opportunity she got and I pray she stays safe over there and come out in flying colours for her masters degree 🎉

Congrats to her and to you.

The month of march was really favourable to you and your family. Transiting between cities is stressful and dangerous in the country than before. Thank God for the safe journeys. And the progress in your sister life.

Yes. Transiting between cities isn't always safe. Only God keeps one safe. Thank you, Tomi.

Germany is a good country . So is she studying while working? If God permits, you can follow her too 😁..
Have you tried taking up Caregiving or practical nursing courses? Those are vocational courses which would only take 6 mos for caregiving, and 1 to 2 years for PN to study.. it'll help you find a job in Germany someday... Health workers are in demand worldwide..

Really? I have never heard of caregiving as a course before. I think I should look online for more information on that. Nah...I don't want Germany. The two countries I am looking at are US and UK.
Thank you, Jane.
