Two things I sacrifice when travelling.

I hail those who love travelling. Some people can travel thrice a week and some do that daily and it makes me want to ask, “don't they get tired or stressed at all?” Travelling is tedious and I know that.

My nature is always a weak one when I travel especially for long hours and I won't be fully okay until the third day because even the second day would feel like I was being pressed and squeezed in a tight corner and all my body will start to ache. I will only end up taking paracetamol tablet to relieve me.

I travelled on Wednesday to my state (Kwara) and from where I live in Ondo to my state, it takes roughly seven hours with traffic included and bad roads. Once we enter Kwara State, the roads aren't good again and it makes me sad that the governor of my state isn't showing concern for it at all and this is part of what makes me get tired after the journey.

Also, sitting in a tight space is something frustrating to me. Drivers do not show any concern at all as they can make four people sit on a roll and to make it worse, one of the four people might have a big body and for the rest of the journey, one would have to cope till he or she gets to his or her destination. So many times, passengers are being packed in the bus as if they carried animals and they would still charge a higher fee for the journey.

I didn't enjoy my journey at all and one of the things I sacrificed when travelling is not eating any food until I get to where I am going. This has been my principle for many years and is still part of me today. I don't eat when going on a trip. For drinking water, I am always conscious of that because I don't like disturbing the driver I need to use a nearby toilet or bush. Too much drinking water during a journey isn't good because you will end up stopping every moment to ease yourself.

When I got home in the evening on Wednesday, I was shaking. Hunger almost kill me that day. Thank God my aunt left some white rice and chicken stew. She wasn't at home and she ordered me to warm the food and eat. I was so happy because I wouldn't be looking for what to eat. This is the sacrifice I make when travelling.

Egbonn.png

The second one is staying off my phone. Yes, I know my nature when I travel. Apart from that, the bad road won't allow me to focus on my phone or engage with my blogging activities. Also, there isn't always network on the road because we would have to pass through some villages that has no network.

By the time I get home, I would have been so weak to press my phone. This is why I make plans the day before I go on any trip. It's important to know your nature and how things would turn out for you especially being a blogger who would not want to leave his or her page empty of a post in a day.

Since I used to make a post or two and do not want to miss a day's posting, I make arrangements for it the previous night. Thank God I was able to draft my article on Tuesday night and it was easier for me to publish while in bus. At least it won't require me to write again as I wouldn't be inspired by words to write on.

As I got home that day, I managed to eat the food I warmed and slept afterwards. I already made my post and published it. That relieved me because I would have missed not posting if I didn't do so the previous night. Throughout that day, I was inactive as my strength couldn't do anything.

The next day, I was still feeling the pain and I managed to check my notifications on Hive and replied them. I also tried writing the LPUD post too later in the afternoon. I was still so weak then which made me unstable online. I have some comments to reply to but I couldn't. This was why I was absent online because of the trip I had.

Egbonn.png

I came for the burial ceremony at home and when my big sister arrived, she told me to focus on the burial and leave my work until we finish. I ignored her and also managed to draft this post last night because we would be waking up early to meet them in church for Thanksgiving and it would be all day program. This is why I made this present post so as not to miss another day.

This post is all about the trip I had and the things I sacrificed because of it. If you didn't see me online, just know this is the reason and I will be fully back on Saturday or a new week as the burial ceremony would have ended.

Thanks for your time on my blog.

Eyaaah! sorry for the stress, traveling toba long distance can be so tiring... That's why most time when I want to go to a far distance, I don't mind going for car that will be spacious.. though much be more expensive.. even though the journey is tiring, at least, I'll sit comfortably... hehehe.

Yeah, I know that you love staying online, so it will be difficult for you to stay offline , and your time too..but sometimes , sacrificing all these things once in a while is inevitable.

You are right. This is why I prefer car to bus but in my area, there was no available car but bus and I had no choice.

Staying offline because of trip like this is somehow a sad thing for me but I don't have a choice. Lol

Thank you for stopping by.

Traveling entirely is a hard work on it's own. People have different disciples while traveling for one reason or the other. For someone like me, traveling is not a big deal, my body system can take anything but what I am scared of is safety on the road. Accidents now occur anyhow because of how bad most of our roads have gone, though we are in God's hands but sometimes prevention is better than cure. I travel only when it becomes a matter of necessity if not I rather stay at home and reach the persons through my phone.

I have met a few person who vomit in cars because they can't take long distance journey it is not easy at all. Some of the divers are not concerned about anything but making money, I remember one day I was so squeezed in a car that I almost stopped breathing. It was not a good experience at all.

You really tried with that long hours journey, sitting down on it's own is a work, talk more of the compression in the car ah! Well done.

Above all, I personally thank God for granting you a journey mercy. Welcome back home🤗

Yea. One has to be careful still with how bad and risky the road is and I also do not like to travel but this one was so important to me. May God continue to keep us safe from every journey we take.

Eiyaa... Sorry dear. On the contrary I love travelling. But I definitely won't do the daily travelling or more than twice a week unless I'll be taking a flight.
Travelling for me is fun. I want to know a lot of places.

I understand the "not eating part". I do that every time I'm travelling to school. I think I take this more seriously because I take purge everytime I'm travelling. That's total cleansing of the stomach 😂 I don't want to hear no rumbling!

I do eat half way to my destination so I can be sure that before the food is digested, I'm at my destination and can use the rest room with ease and comfort.

Just like you, I drink less when travelling. If I'm going to a new place, I don't drink at all. But if I'm travelling to places I've been before, I definitely know where we stop to pee so I can drink a little.

It's good that you plan ahead of time so you don't become so inactive. I hope you'll be able to keep up. Enjoy the activities over there and see you around! 🤗

Hehehe. One has to be conscious of food and water they take when travelling so as not to be uncomfortable in the bus or car. At least it's still better if it is your personal car since you can stop anywhere and at anytime, unlike the public bus. It's always embarrassing sometimes.

Thank you, Didiee

Hello there, princess. I’m just like you. I don’t really like traveling. Especially long distances. It feels like punishment. But unlike you, I can’t do without my phone. lol, what will you now be doing? Staring ?

Hehehe. I was listening to music and kept my phone. I just can't feel comfortable pressing my phone in a bus except if it's a car.

Travelling is a no go area for me when it comes to the regular squeezing of passengers in the bus, it weakens me alot.

I'm fond is using my phone while traveling but just as you said, network gets in time to time to ruin the situation

It is the network issue for me while on a trip. I don't enjoy it and also, I can't be on my phone for long in the bus.

Since I hardly travel, once the opportunity to travel comes, I quickly jump into it.
Sorry about the body pain.
And I can't travel without pressing my phone. Even if it's to play games or listen to music, I will make sure I do something. Except there is a person to gist with in the car.

Traveling is nice but stressful at the same time mostly because of the bad roads. Had it been that the roads are smooth for traveling, there won't be much problem.

One of the four people might have a big body.

😅😅😅 you make me laugh.
Drivers don't care about the people jam-packed in the bus, they just want their money 💵. If possible, they might even make it five people in a roll 😂.

I ignored her and also managed to draft this post last night

Stubborn 🙅‍♀️ girl 😅😅😅.
#Dreemport brought me here.

Those drivers do not care oo 😂
I entered a bus where the driver was so selfish to carry another passenger to sit on his left-hand side after the two persons on his right-hand side. Lol
It wasn´t funny that day because it was a risky one for us. What if we met soldiers or police on the way? They could have delayed us that day.

Hahaha, yes, I am so stubborn when it comes to making money oo 🤣🤣

Thanks for showing up ma.

I don't mind traveling, just the stress of missing a connection and messing up the whole trip is what annoys me.

I know you are a little stubborn ☺️. She told you to leave your phone yet you squeezed out time to draft this. Nawa oo. No problem.

And yeah I also make these sacrifices. It’s not that travel is bitter. What’s makes it look bad is the uncomfortable environment. If you travel by air you would know traveling is sweet. Or in a luxury car.

And yeah phone too. The rough ride would make se keep them to myself… I don’t press phone while traveling.

That's interesting... I could understand not drining or eating while traveling, but I do eat when I travel, (I don't drink much for the same reason.)

The funny thing is, I don't like traveling for long hours. My family go from Libya to Tunisia, (a 10+ hour trip by Car,) and when I have to go, I really dislike the time in the way and I sleep for most of it. I totally understand your struggle traveling by Bus, especially since it seems it's with people you don't know.

I know how tiring it is to be less comfortable in a bus in motion for more than five hours with traffic. It is not easy at all honestly. Some of your rules are applicable to mine because we do that to avoid inconveniences that might arise along the way. As for drinking water, I normally purchased the big bottled Eva water and I sip them whenever my throats is dry or when I have hungry pangs and that is what I will drink till I get to my destination and as for food I will eat only very early in the morning at the park. I'm so sorry for all the stress you passed through getting to Kwara state, at least you arrived safely! Wish you a swift journey to and fro!
