[Week 133] Christmas Eve Foods and Drinks.
Yesterday has been a busy one for me especially because I am the eldest daughter in the village and most of the tasks were done by me. Last night, I had pain all over my body because I/we have been going up and down the house just to make Christmas Eve awesome. Grandma wanted the best and she trusted me to give my best in making sure everyone ate to their satisfaction.

A visitor came around some days ago and gifted us a rabbit for Christmas plus the fowl we bought and grandma ordered us to kill both animals yesterday morning while I take it up from there.
One of my cousins who celebrated her birthday yesterday had volunteered to prepare Jollof Rice in the morning and that was what everyone ate while we waited for the next meal.
Food cooked with firewood is always delicious and that was how we prepared this special meal. Unfortunately, we hadn't finished preparing the two types of meat and everyone had to manage to eat the rice while we await the fun part later at night.
We had to eat the remaining rice for lunch because grandma dislike food remaining at home before making a new one. So, we ate that one and after then, I proceeded to plan how to go about the food to be prepared for dinner which was pounded yam.
First of all, my cousin killed the rabbit and roasted it using firewood. Then, I boiled and fried it.

I couldn't snap when the chicken was killed and even forgot to take a picture when I boiled it but I succeeded in remembering to take a picture of the fried one.
Then, I proceeded to make Stew and I added the Rabbit meat into it while the chicken was delayed for Christmas day which is today. We still have some meat left in the stew which would be enough for everyone in the house. I also made vegetables with Egusi soup while others boiled yam and pounded it using a mortar and pestle.

Yesterday would be my first time preparing Egusi soup with vegetables and thank God, I made it good while I got some compliments on it. Here are the ingredients I used in making it.

Other ingredients not included are;
- Red/Palm oil
- Pepper
We finished all the cooking and here is the finishing part where we enjoyed ourselves with malt drinks.
That was how we enjoyed our Christmas Eve yesterday. Our plan today is to prepare White Rice with the Chicken, still going with Malt drinks as we have enough to serve us around even if we have guests coming to celebrate with us.
I wish everyone a Happy and Merry Christmas and may we continue to celebrate more years to come.
