Wild-life Animals - Bongobondhu Safari Park, Gazipur , Bangladesh

avatar
(Edited)

My dad is a government officer of the Ministry of Forest and Environment of Bangladesh, so I had an enormous chance to explore Bangladesh which I did. We always got extra facilities because of my dad's reputation.

So, Bongobondhu Safari Park was one of the territories which were part of my Dad's job. Basically Bongobondhu Safari Park is a project of the Forest Department and also known as wildlife conservation. It is located at Gazipur, 40 km from Dhaka city. The total area of this park is 3810 acres (1542 ha) which is one of the largest safari parks among ASIA. It is situated inside SAL Forest.

By the way, these posts gonna be a wildlife photography post rather than a travel story. So enjoy the photographs. I have used my dad's zooming lens to capture these images otherwise it's quite impossible to capture these pictures.

I have seen tigers in my life, White Tiger, Siberian tiger but these are Royal Bengal Tigers which can only be found in Bangladesh and India. They are very ferocious and they are becoming extinct nowadays.

One of the main reasons for their extinction is deforestation. Also, people are killing them because of their skin and fur.

When I went to the sanctuary, there was a specific time. You can't see them at any time. It was 4 years back, I don't know what is the condition now.

I felt Zebras are quite interesting, they don't even care about anything until they don't see any danger. I captured their picture at noon so it was their resting time after lunch.

These are the spotted deer and I personally love this animal. I had a pet deer when I was a kid, it stayed with me for a long time but later my dad send him to the jungle. I know how friendly they can be and their eyes are magical.

I called these elephants decorative animals and children love to ride on them. When I was a kid I also ride on it once I guess...

Many people come here to explore this safari park, especially on the weekend. In winter people go there for picnic as well. From my perspective, I feel Safari Park is much better for wildlife rather than the zoo. Because in Zoo, I have seen them in cages but these wildlife doesn't belong to the cages...

Well, I haven't visited the biggest Safari park in Africa but the Safari park in my country is not less than in other countries.

My previous wildlife photography post can be found here.

After reading this article I just went back to my old memory when I visited Bongobondhu Safari Park which is situated at Gazipur. It was an wonderful memory. That time I was in 3rd year students studying mathematics in Jahangirnagar University. And It was our annual tour. I still remember that when I saw 2 elephants were having their food. It was an open place where all animals playing around, very often you can see them from very close.

Hey hey @martibis founder of @pinmapple and Haveyoubeenhere here, we already met in the Haveyoubeenhere & Pinmapple Discord! I was wondering if you were up for a bit of an experiment! 😄

I want to test an assumption which is that using Haveyoubeenhere is infinitely more enjoyable when you already know some people on the platform! So I am gathering 15 high quality travel content creators to, well, get to know each other some and then afterwards all together test out Haveyoubeenhere for a bit! 😄 If it sounds like something you would like to help out with you can join the Discord and just hit me up there! For bragging rights in the future you will get the "haveyoubeenhere-og" role in the Discord too, haha! 😄
