My fear for ghost

Do I believe in ghosts?
As a child yes,I used to believe in ghosts when I was a child not like I have seen any in real life but because of movies I did watch back then.

After watching any horror movies, sleeping at night becomes an issue and darkness becomes my enemy. No one can convince me to stay in the dark room alone. If the room is dark don't send me on an errand because I will start crying.

During my childhood we used to live in a compound house with so many people, but it felt like family because of the peace in the compound. There are these uncles that are brothers, they were five brothers living together so we lost one of the uncles.

Before his death he traveled home to see his mother and before going I was the only one in the compound. He played with me and made so many jokes I was laughing.

Two days after his journey he returned from the village and I was still the only one in the compound. He was in a hurry and he was late for work. He brought 10 liters of palm oil that I should give my Mom, then he left.

The next day he was brought back from his place of work because he was sick and couldn't walk. He was holding a mopping stick and using it to support himself to walk. He was talking to his room but before midnight was moved to his elder brother's house.

The next day in the morning we saw the elder brother's car passing and at the time I was on my way to school then I was still in primary school. When we returned from school everyone in the compound was crying that he was dead.

I was so scared that if I was not a child people would think I killed him, but I couldn't hide my fears.I stop entering their room again for any reason at all,I don't go out of the compound at night, this continued for almost five months.

Until one day my mom wanted something and asked one of the brothers. He said they have it in the room. My mom asked me to go inside and get it,I refused but she said if I allow her to stand up I will not like what will happen (African children will understand).

While I was still pleading with her not to send me my immediate younger brother went inside the room I don't know, she insisted I go and get what she sent me.I entered the room and left the door open in case of emergency.

I was trying to look for what I was asked to bring when my brother threw the mopping stick the late uncle used in supporting himself to walk before his death at me. The moment that stick landed on me,I screamed so loud that I passed out.

When I opened my eyes everybody was scared calling my name,my brother collected the beating of his life that day,but now I find this story very funny because I didn't kill this person so why was I so scared.

But now I walk confidently in the dark, even if someone around is dead I still go to where I want to go without thinking twice,I have never seen a ghost before at least not any that I know,so now I don't believe in ghosts.

Yeah, most times we don't believe in things we haven't seen but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There are stories of people who have met one and I quite understand your fear as a child 😂

I can understand the fear you had as a child, and the fear you had in relation to your story, too, I was so afraid of ghosts that i wil refuse to go inside my uncle's house unaccompanied when I was a little child, and if I did, I would run into the compound because his wife was buried close to the gate.
