Attempting Macro Photography

I found out that taking photos of little things such as flowers, weeds, or insect quite exciting. It's the only way you can observe a little flowers or dragon fly more closely since you can't do it with naked eyes. And these little things are surprisingly beautiful when you can see them.

The only problem for me is that I don't have dedicated camera or lens for macro photography. I only have a point and shoot pocket camera. Still, I like to try to maximize this little beast to take macro photos.

You can call me an enthusiast of photography. Like everybody else nowadays, I like taking photos. My camera is Canon Powershot G7X Mark II, it is a point and shoot camera with fixed lens. I can't change the lens for dedicated macro lens. But I like it for its' compactness.

I went to the farm near my home today to try taking photos of little things there. Here are some of the photos that took. The first photo is a purple mimosa flower. The rest of the flowers in the photos were mostly grass and little plants I found near rice field. I don't have any idea about these plants. Will need to update later 😅

F/4, 1/800 sec, ISO 125

F/4, 1/500 sec, ISO 125

F/4, 1/500 sec, ISO 125

Taking these photos, I used automatic mode. . The camera work very hard to try to focus on close objects it drained almost fifty percent of the battery charge when I finish. I did try to change to manual mode, but it's not convenient to change setting (the fstop and shutter speed) manually.

F/4, 1/400 sec, ISO 125

F/4, 1/640 sec, ISO 125

I am quite happy with the sharpness of the object of these photos. To be honest, many of photos were blurry. I chose the most sharp I could find.

F/4.5, 1/1250 sec, ISO 125

The only things that I don't like was the background of these photos. I could not make it completely blurry or it's not bokeh. You could still see different shapes at the background. Maybe I should get a better camera???🤔

F/1.8, 1/1000 sec, ISO 320

F/5.6, 1/80 sec, ISO 125

F/1.8, 1/1000 sec, ISO 320

F/1.8, 1/1000 sec, ISO 320

F/1.8, 1/1000 sec, ISO 320

F/1.8, 1/1000 sec, ISO 200

you should use smallest ISO, use the flash (remember to cover it a bit to reduce the harsh flash light), f5/6 to get sharp object and a fast shutter speed bli.

but yeah, getting the focus with automatic focusing is really hard in macro shot.

Thanks for the tip, I will try to use f5/6.
