Participating in a Community Work at The Local Temple

Hello, everyone, I would like to share my day for community work at the local temple yesterday (August, the 4th, 2022).

It was seven o'clock in the morning when I arrived at the Jagatnatha Temple in my town. I parked my motor cycle at the parking area near the temple gate. Then I walked to the temple gate.

I came to the temple for community work. The temple festival will start next week (from the time this was written) and so the villagers were supposed to lend a helping hand for the festival preparation.

I walked across the beautiful split gate made by stone. There were two "serpents" guarding the gate. These serpents were the symbol of prosperity.

As I passed the serpent gate, I arrived at an amphitheater. There was nobody there, so I continued walking to the next gate. The next gate lead me to the second court yard where I saw some other people from my village gathered.

The work was then started. We cleaned the yards, sweep the rubbish, moving few tables and working with bamboos.

People who worked with the bamboos were those who were skillful in woodwork. I was not. Still, I helped whenever I could.

Next to the second yard was the main courtyard. Once we finished at the second yard, we entered the next gate to the main one.

At the main yard, people swept the rubbish from fallen leaves of trees. They also prepared the shrines decoration. Some colorful banners were just placed before the shrines by them.

Actually, the work was not that hard. Probably because there were many people who come to help. By 9.30 all the the work was almost done, and so I took my leave. I was happy I could help.
