Visiting A Sunday Morning Market

Hi everyone, I would like to share about a Sunday morning market in my town, Jembrana, Bali, Indonesia.

This market is only opened on Sunday morning. It is intended to help the local small businesses or home industry to be able to sell their products.

The market is located near an art building in my town. The building is used for holding events, such as dance or balinese music competition. On Sunday, this building is closed.

The art building is surrounded by a moat, and also walking trek for the people to have exercise in Sunday morning. Since the only time people have free time to exercise during the week, there would be many people come to have a walk/jogging in this place on Sunday morning. This was the reason why it is chosen as the location of the morning market.

You could see vendors along the trekking route selling snacks to cater the people who walked on the walking trek. I don't think the people who came for exercise would stop and shop at this vendor. But there were also many people who came here just for spending time, relaxing, or just being here for the market.

In one corner, there was a playground for kids, and also a coloring activity for little kids. It was a great activity for little kids in little town like this. (There is not much thing to do in this town).

The street beside the walking trek was also turned into place for the vendors to offer their merchandise. Most of the vendors, sold fried snacks, instant coffee, and soft drinks. Not a very healthy food, I supposed, but people gathered over those vendors.

The people sat down on the pavement to eat their snacks. They seemed to enjoy that. I would have enjoyed that too, luckily I was here by myself, not with my children. Otherwise, I would be sitting on the pavement eating some fried snacks.

And not to mention the toy sellers. This was a good time to convince parents to buy toys for their kids, so the kids would behave.

In one end, there was even a watch seller. I was interested in the watches that placed on a small table by the street. There was a tag that said USD 3.5 for a watch. It was cheap, but I know this was only to make people interested to have a look.

There were premium watches that priced for about 100 USD. These watched were placed on small boxes next to the cheap watches. I looked at a 3.5 USD Casio watches, and thought, this looked like the real Casio.

I said thanks to the vendor, and then left the place to explore a bit more.

I guess this where people go and spend their time on a Sunday morning. For a little town like this, seeing the number of people coming, it was quite big attraction.
